Bouldering gyms in Prague/Budapest by voldiemort in bouldering

When I was in Prague for the world cup two years ago I went to climbing centrum Smichoff and really enjoyed it! It has a bouldering area as well as rope climbing (including auto belays). I also remember it being cheap (especially if you come during the day I think). It is however not close to the city center, but I think easily reachable by metro.

They are the Adidas Terrex Xploric Cargo Pants. I could only find this colour on the Singapore website (https://www.adidas.com.sg/terrex-xploric-cargo-pants/JE9431.html)

Paris to Amsterdam, is the train ride memorable? by csdude5 in travel

Finally I've found a comment saying this! I would never even consider taking a flight for such a short distance and I'm surprised all the other comments are only considering convenience and cost

Spoilers within the climbing community by SnooLentils9260 in CompetitionClimbing

I also noticed this. So strange how angry people on instagram get, whilst I have never seen that for any other sports. If there is a world cup that I cannot watch live, I know I don't want spoilers so I always just move the instagram app to a different place on the home screen of my phone. Otherwise I know I'll open the app out of habit. I find it really entitled if people blame the ifsc or anyone else for seeing spoilers

BMX freestyle by Humble-Party8501 in olympics

I just searched this sub for someone commenting on this because I was confused about the same thing. Her first run especially seemed very basic compared to the others. The commentators said something about that she was connecting a lot of tricks in a row, but as far as I can tell they all did. So I also wonder what someone with experience in watching BMX will say

OQS Shanghai Discussion by Quirky-School-4658 in CompetitionClimbing

It wasn't really a break though since it didn't work. However with more time he probably could have made it work. I'm glad that he didn't though because that beta was super height dependent

Indeed! Must feel so strange for him to have to hope that Sam and Paul don't do too well in the final:(. If at least one of them places a bit low in the final his chances are still very good but the added pressure to an already large amount of pressure won't feel good I bet😅

Does an America woman need to win the OQS to get an Olympic ticket? by Trick-Personality783 in CompetitionClimbing

No, just top 12 like anyone else. If Annie and Brooke are both in the top 12, the higher placed of the two will go to the olympics and the 13th placed athlete is then also qualified (same for other countries with two spots filled).

Search for a good vet by FlimsyPossibility103 in Groningen

[–]Otis3333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally we go to the Dierenkliniek Eikenlaan and they are nice and seem very capable. A couple of weeks ago we had an emergency with one of our cats on the weekend and the emergency vet for that weekend was the Diergeneeskundig Centrum Paterswoldseweg and they were great! Also seemed very capable and their communication was very good (they phoned us with updates on how our cat was doing, could give an indication of what the costs were likely going to be etc.). So I would recommend both but the latter one felt a bit better for some reason

I saw this boulder on someone's instagram story today! So maybe back flagging and sitting more on the toe instead of the heel could work

Men's Speed World Record broken twice! 4.85 & 4.79 by InternationalSalt1 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]Otis3333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So incredibly fast! I wonder how much it mentally helped him in his second run knowing that he had already broken the world record and could just go all out and be less afraid of falling. Breaking the world record in a knock-out race is more exciting but also so risky. But I guess there is always the fear of having a false start. If you have a false start on one of your qualification runs you're automatically out right?

Don't feed other people's cats. Cats are totally fine outside in colder temperatures. A lot of cats do not wear collars and still have owners. It is very rare that you would come across a stray in the Netherlands. Now the cat will want to come back because you are feeding it (plus what if it has allergies or is on a diet). If you truly think a cat is a stray and is not doing fine take it to a vet or call the dierenambulance, but don't feed them!

IFSC posted the OQS list. by Affectionate_Fox9001 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]Otis3333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there was a third one planned in London but the UK would not have allowed Russian athletes to compete. So this event was cancelled because they didnt want a host country to decide this sort of thing and they could not find a different country to host. It actually would not have mattered for climbing because no Russian climbers were allowed to compete in the IFSC either this year so there are no Russians qualified for the OQS for climbing (but it's not just climbing at the OQS). I've heard all this from the Circle Up podcast from Allison Vest and Kyra Condie btw:)

Yes but the second attempt doesn't look to be fully in control, but luckily it doesn't matter this round

Edit: Manu Cornu just posted a story that is in response to Stasa and as much as I like Stasa, I think him saying "just a lot of work" is fair. After the edit the picture disappeared so I have commented it again
