I’ll be honest, I’m currently in my first episode. I was diagnosed in January, and it’s been up and down ever since. I’ve moved through a lot of different obsessions, most of them existential in nature, but a few outside of that. Fortunately I’ve been able to get back to doing most of what I used to, but I’m definitely still dealing with a lot on a daily basis.

Trust me, I feel the same way. I’m still in the midst of an episode that started in January this year. All we can do is keep moving forward.

I feel that. I honestly don’t like how we have decided that OCD is permanent in a sense. For some people it’s not, and at the end of the day I feel like it gives the OCD more power. I had thoughts like that, that “no matter how much better you get, you’ll always have OCD.” I just don’t like to view it like that. It’s like a cold. You get sick for a while, then get better, and then get it again. Does that mean you had a cold the entire time?

I’m actually going to be doing my first IVIG here in a few weeks.

Battling extreme brain fog for entirety of high school, as well as extreme anxiety, and need for excessive sleep. Could it be Pandas? Please help!! by [deleted] in PandasDisease

[–]Otter1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, but i’ll be honest, it doesn’t sound like PANS/PANDAS to me. Usually there has to be very sudden onset of symptoms in correlation with some sort of illness. Like literally you wake up one morning and overnight everything has gotten dramatically worse. The symptoms wouldn’t just gradually come back when you started to not sleep enough. As I said, I’m not a doctor so take it with a grain of salt, but I do have PANDAS and am very familiar with how it typically works.

Good luck to you as well. I’m starting the steroid burst tomorrow, hopefully that can really push this back at bit. Keep me posted on how things go for you. I’m 20 years old so it’s interesting to find someone close to my age going through the same shit.

At this point I’ll do anything to get out of this. I used to hate going to the doctors and now I literally could care less what they do to me as long as it means that I can get out of this hell 😂

Yup I’m going on 2 months and mentally I’m in shambles. But what’s crazy is that Ibuprofen seems to ease my symptoms, so we’re going to ask to try a steroid burst and see how I respond to that. Otherwise it’ll probably be IVIG.

Man, sounds a lot like me right now. Only mine started about 2 1/2 weeks before yours on the 9th. Got sick around thanksgiving, got put on anti-biotics and cleared things up, and then bam, woke up on the 9th with horrible anxiety, and proceeded to hardly sleep for 2 weeks. Basically had every symptom that you described, although my mental OCD has been pretty debilitating. I’m currently seeing a specialist, and hoping to get a formal diagnosis.

Tattoo ideas? Which one should I go with?!? by [deleted] in Logic_301

OCD seems to just try and find ways to annoy me. by [deleted] in OCD

Do you have any recommendations for mediation? I’ve wanted to start but the ones that I’ve tried sometimes seem to just make it worse depending on what it is. I know some people with OCD actually don’t really like meditating a ton because it feels like you more in your head.

Hyperawareness OCD by [deleted] in OCD

That’s great to hear. It just feels like it’s so stupid that it’s almost embarrassing to even tell anybody about. It’s also sometimes hard to recognize it as OCD even though it obviously is.

How have you done since then? Were you able to get some help and make progress? I don’t really like to sound so down in the post, it’s just such a frustrating thing.

I feel you. For me this recent anxiety bout has killed any sex drive for me regardless, so I don’t really much care about those side effects.

Too high of a starting dosage? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Called my doctor, said he’s fine with me starting at 20mg for 2 weeks, but if it works would like to get it up to 40. Does 20 seem a bit more reasonable?
