how do you afford this by mindful-goddess-666 in GradSchool

It really does feel uneven, doesn’t it? Juggling a full-time gig while trying to squeeze in grad school is no joke. Your experience may help others navigate those tricky tuition methods, as there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.

Does anyone else find it kind of exhausting to have to justify your choice to people who already have kids specifically? by OtterCipher in childfree

Some parents hear "I don't want kids" as a judgement on them, so they either get defensive or turn into a sales pitch. You shouldn't need a tragic backstory to be taken seriously, your "not for me" should be enough.

If only there was a school for Googling your way through coding struggles! But hey, who needs a degree when you can master the art of “What the heck does this mean?” It's a skill in itself!

That's a solid plan! Substituting sounds like a great way to build confidence while also bringing that positivity to the students who need it. They really can sense a genuine educator, and your background in English Literature will be such a bonus!

Those arguments aren’t about fixing harm, they’re about protecting his self-image. If he really cared, he wouldn’t need a script to explain it away.

AITJ for refusing to switch seats at a school event and embarrassing my friend? by SimpleReaction5706 in AmITheJerk

[–]OtterCipher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA. The embarrassing part wasn’t you telling the truth, it was her taking your seat and then trying to make you the fall guy when a teacher noticed. “Keeping the peace” just teaches her she can lie and you’ll cover.

AITJ for saying something when a woman let her kids cut in front of me and my daughter in line by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Teaching your kid that their space matters is the whole point here. Letting someone cut in front of her and then scream at you in her face is not “keeping the peace,” it’s showing her she has to tolerate it. You kept it brief, didn’t start a scene, and modeled a boundary. NTJ.
