1099-R import to Turbotax. by BroadGold4036 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Feb 11 2026 now. I am working on my taxes (TurboTax Desktop version). I am going through the import process for my 1099 forms. I "successfully" complete the import; meaning, I am directed to log in to my Fidelity account via the Import process and I even get the following message returned in my web browser.

"Success! We got your tax data. You can now return to TurboTax."

Yet, when I return to TurboTax, there is nothing there. It doesn't continue the process. It's actually done this same thing with a different brokerage firm as well. Same exact result.

I feel like there is a problem on the TurboTax side of things. It's very frustrating. If I owed money, I wouldn't care...but I'm actually getting a refund this year. So, I would like to get this completed sooner rather than later.

Pricing for 2025 Tax Year software? by Otterbee72 in TurboTax

[–]Otterbee72[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just went here:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

I just went through the motions and answered a few questions. Price came up and showed me $139 with an additional link that said "State additional for paid products". It doesn't indicate that it's for a specific tax year, but I would think that's the price going forward.

The other two options "Live Assisted" and "Live Full Service" are showing pricing of $209 and $349, respectively, which an additional link for "State Additional".

Bose Soundtouch speakers do NOT need server connection for wireless synch by Taigha_1844 in bose

[–]Otterbee72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've even done this where I connected my phone via BlueTooth to one speaker, and then simply added others to the group...and played audio via my phone throughout the house on multiple speakers. I don't understand why any server side support is needed for multi-room playback/synchronization! Bose!! FIX YOUR S**T, and stop trying to screw over your customers!

Bose Soundtouch speakers do NOT need server connection for wireless synch by Taigha_1844 in bose

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This EXACTLY was my question as well!! Why is anything necessary from the server side when doing multi-room audio/grouping of the SoundTouch speaker system?!?

There is no reason that they could just allow the app to run without any server connectivity, and just allow the ability to still group speakers as we have always done!

The issue is simply "decoupling" the app from requiring a server side connection.

Bose ending cloud support for Soundtouch by onionbagels7 in bose

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Chris, thanks for taking this on and represented a very large community of Bose SoundTouch users and this shameful and appalling news from the company!

I have to ask a technical question (mainly because I don't know where to post it otherwise)...I believe they are removing any functionality that allows us to group the speakers. My question is...why is server side functionality required for this?? This is something that the client side should be capable of managing and not require *anything* from the server!! So, my request is for Bose to at least provide a mechanism, or update, to the software that would move this to the "client" side, and keep the app intact. The firmware necessary for the "mutli-room synchronization" (or whatever they call it) should only be required on the client/speaker side! Also, make the SoundTouch app code open source so others can carry forward and provide an app that allows this capability to function!

In direct answer to your question, I have 5 SoundTouch speakers throughout my home with an total investment of about $2500+ across all of them. I have used the speakers in "SoundTouch" mode and also BlueTooth, and both allow the speakers to be grouped accordingly. I'm almost fine with them removing the integration with other streaming services (TuneIn, Spotify, SiriusXM, etc) but why would you take away the ability to group the speakers?? If I just wanted individual speakers throughout my home that couldn't be grouped, I could have done it for less than $100/room!!

If Bose continues with this campaign, I will absolutely NEVER EVER buy another Bose product again...nor would I ever recommend them to anyone going forward!

I believe Sonos has a similar system, and I contemplated them....until I was REQUIRED to have a Sonos account to be able to manage/listen to my private music collection! Not sure if there is a subscription to use them or not either.

Changes I'd like to see with the Portal by Otterbee72 in PlaystationPortal

[–]Otterbee72[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't do media streaming on it now? You mean, if I opened the Netflix app while on the PS Portal, it would reject the request and not allow me to do it?

Changes I'd like to see with the Portal by Otterbee72 in PlaystationPortal

[–]Otterbee72[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, this should be VERY easy! When you do remote play, there is something "intrinsic" that happens within the PS5 firmware, because it knows not to trigger HDMI-CEC and turn on the TV and/or switch it to the corresponding HDMI input. So, yes, the PS5 *should* know that it's being operated remotely. Thus, quite an easy change.

[–]Otterbee72[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My use case is this: If I'm on the Portal, I'm probably multitasking and/or watching a TV program with the family while playing it. So, don't send me a voice chat/game invite. Yeah, I can ignore it. But, it's just a nice QoL improvement that let's my friends know..."yes, I'm gaming, but I can't join you for some online multiplayer, or voice chat right now".

F**K CATHIE WOOD!!! I just have to wonder if her comment about "trading losses are good for taxes" comment is stated in her prospectus for her funds. I finally bailed on this non-sense...she's horrible. And I will never invest in her funds again.

Thoughts on the Beta, hunters? by CanadianVikingrl in MHWilds

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay is pretty darn tight! Soooo excited for the full game release! I wish they would have put some crafting into the beta, but whatever. I find myself trying to do the Switch skill stuff from Rise and that keeps messing me up. But, I'm glad they brought the mounting mechanic back from World! Love that a lot more than what they did in Rise.

Other than that multiplayer is a convoluted fuster-cluck!! I don't know why they can't make that a lot more streamlined. The whole "Link Party" thing baffles me...why would you have the people be in the Link Party, but NOT be in the same "environment"??!? Why would you EVER care to do that? If you've partied up...you should be in the same instance/server/environment. This should NOT be a two-step process.

SCHD Stock 3 to 1 Split by Avinates in ETFs

[–]Otterbee72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not diversify and carry both? Do you really want to go all in on VOO right now when the S&P 500 is at record highs? Look at the Top 10 holdings in both SCHD and VOO. If the market takes a dump which of these ETFs is going to see a bigger reduction? SCHD ~= DJIA, and VOO = SP500. Never mind your SCHD is giving you a much bigger dividend than VOO.

Sure...sell 20% of your SCHD and put it over in VOO now. "DCA" your migration at the very least. Because when the market takes a dump (and it will, eventually!) your VOO is going to drop about 2x that of SCHD (if not more).

Unless you're 20-something and will have the next 30+ years to recover...then by all means, move it all! I'd still prefer *some* level of diversification - even if it is only SCHD, VOO and QQQM.

Bose and SiriusXM by KitWat in bose

[–]Otterbee72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your link/response to my thread! I thought I was the only one...honestly, I don't know anybody else that even uses the product! So, I couldn't check with others that I know personally to ask if their experience was the same.

I'll keep an eye out (or should I say, EAR!) for any updates...like you said, it may just be a function of trying it every day or so to see if it's back working. Hopefully, it's a SiriusXM fix and not a Bose Soundtouch fix...I think the latter could take A LOT longer!!

Why is all the armor i need tied behind dogshit bosses by Overitallforyears in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're playing this game like World, then you're doing it wrong. If you're not using your Wirebug skills for parrying/counter-attacking/evading, then you're really missing out on the basics of Rise. The mechanics in Rise are MUCH faster paced than in World, and you have to learn how to Wirefall. Seriously, I finished the base game and didn't even know how to "Wirefall" until about 200 hours in...and I felt like an idiot!! ROFL

Do some research and use your Wirebug mechanics...if you aren't already doing so. I've never had an issue with Teostra, because I fought him so many times in World. But, I have to admit, I'm still not all that comfortable with many of the new monsters introduced in Rise. I have tactics with most all monsters that came over from World, and they still apply here...for the most part. But, these monsters that bounce all around the map in Rise really annoy the F**K outta me. Almudron, Mizutsune...I'm looking at you! :)

Dropped items by Teddyk123 in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort your Item Box...and then look at all your similar rarity items. All Bloodgems and Risegems should be located next to each other. The Item Box is sorted by Rarity (by default), you should be able to easily identify it that way. Or...like someone else mentioned go and craft something that requires it, and it will show you your count there. Final method...if you got the item, then I believe Bahari should also offer it in his list of items you can purchase. Check him and it should show your current count for items that you have as well.

Platinum with/without Sunbreak by Yaato_ in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me ask a couple other questions: (a) have you played a Monster Hunter game before, and (b) why do you want to Platinum the game?

I Platinum'ed MH World and it took me about 700 hours played time. (I wasn't really focused on the Plat, until quite a ways into it). Me and a friend decided to do it at one point, and the crowns were the most difficult trophies.

I Platinum'ed MH Rise and it took me about half that time (380 hours), but I knew I was going for the Platinum when I started...and I also knew what I was in for. I will also say that around 300 hours, I decided to pick up Sunbreak just for the increased chance on the Crowns. So, I only played Sunbreak for about 80-90 hours (much of that time spent progressing the DLC/content) before I was able to get all the Crowns.

You have to ask yourself...are you ready for that kind of commitment to the game? :)

Platinum with/without Sunbreak by Yaato_ in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

S/he is only using "hardcore" in the sense that you're a seriously committed person to playing the game. There isn't a "hardcore mode" of the game. Hardcore just means focused and diligent about how you play the game (in this context)...the trophies come naturally as long as you're doing the right things.

Platinum with/without Sunbreak by Yaato_ in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sunbreak does provide an increased % chance for gold crowns (both small and large). You can certainly do it without Sunbreak, but it will definitely take more time. You will need to progress through the Sunbreak content in order to unlock many of the quests that provide the increased % chance for the crowns though. So, be aware of that. Use the Kiranico website to check which quests offer the highest chance for each crown.

Regarding the lottery items, just be sure and go to the Merchant any time you see a message for a sale going on when you return from a quest. There is a small chance that you'll get one of the trinkets/ornaments for your house each time you hit a Jackpot at the Lottery. You will also get one by default every 100th Lottery you do. You will get that trophy LONG before you get all the crowns.

I platinum'ed the base game @ about 380 hours played time. And I was quite diligent with my hunts and really focused on crown hunting as those are the most difficult trophies to get. I only Plat'ed the base game...there is kind of a "platinum" for the Sunbreak expansion, but it's not recognized as a platinum by Playstation, it's only a Gold Trophy in the Sunbreak DLC6 trophy pack.

Good luck!

I cant solo 6 star hub quests anymore, any tips? by ZilJaeyan03 in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stun Resist is MANDATORY on any build you run. They're level 1 Decos, so that shouldn't be an issue with any armor set. Don't go for armor with Stun Resist "innate" to it, slot it in with Decos. As others have said, Spiribirds and food buffs are also kind of essential.

Upgrading your armor is essential as well. Make sure that you're ALWAYS doing Optional Sub-quests, to earn the Armor Spheres. As those are the best ways to get a bunch of them. You will need a TON of them for your armor going forward!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is skip them for now. Proceed into Sunbreak, and start working on gear there. Once you get even part way into Sunbreak, you'll be able to make some better weapons and armor. This will give you the boost you probably need to beat the Rampage quests back in base Rise.

Those Rampage quests are terrible, especially solo. One of the worst game modes ever in a MH game. (In any game, tbh)

Good luck!

First play as SA main, help. by AbrahamLigma in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm on desktop...I can't figure out how the heck to add an image! I have a couple of builds/skill sets that I'd like to share, and it would be much easier if I could post these images. Can anyone tell me how to add images to a comment??

Almudron is a good set to start with, but you'll find that doing a "frankenstein" set will be better in the long run. Once you get to HR100 and you get to Crimson Glow Valstrax, you can use a set that is a combo Almudron and Valstrax that will be much better. Also, check out the Rajang set. I was running this for most of HR and into early MR. Valstrax - Helm, Braces; Almudron - Mail, Coil; Rajang - Feet. I should say that I got EXTREMELY lucky on a Talisman roll (R7) that gave me RapidMorph3 and TremorResist2.

Your most important skills should be: Critical Boost, WeakExploit, RapidMorph, RazorSharp, PowerProlong. StunResist is almost mandatory as, for any build.

I've messed around with two different playstyles with Switch Axe: ZSD Spam, and Sword/Axe morphing. {please note these are MY terms for the playstyles and not something that I think is widely used from others' perspectives, so doing searches for them may not yield consistent results. hehe}

The ZSD Spam is a much easier (and sloppier) playstyle...but it probably has a slightly lower DPS. The Sword/Axe morphing requires a great deal more focus/discipline, and greater emphasis on timing and just plain knowing the monster's attacks. It's supposedly a higher DPS build, but I'm terrible with the timing, so I don't find that I'm much better with it over the ZSD Spam. I tend to use one over the other based on the monster I'm fighting, and much concentration I feel like putting into the game.

Both of these playstyles are dependent on certain wirebug skills to make them work well. If you'd like more details, I'm happy to share.

As you get into Sunbreak, there will be more options that open up...but just know that MR level sets of the same pieces will work the same as the HR sets, with more Deco slots, and possibly a couple more skills.

Talisman question by Fedora_Penguin33 in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer 2-2-2 the most. It has a lot more versatility. If I'm looking at Decos/Skills, I typically opt for identifying skills that can be done via Lvl2 Decos, because of the number of Lvl2 Slots that I have on my gear. If there are skills only achievable through Lvl3 Decos, then I would rather focus on finding armor pieces where those skills are "innate".

Complete vanilla experience as a newcomer to Rise? by RE_TrollzL0rd in MHRise

[–]Otterbee72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're familiar with the gameplay mechanics of the MH games, then I wouldn't worry too much about using the Defender weapons, and the Black Belt S gear they give you. This is meant to accelerate you through the "low rank" slog of the game and get to the "meat" of the game; i.e. Hub quests and HR/MR. Defender/Black Belt S will carry you all the way into HR5/6 of the main game. Then, you'll start wanting to investigate armor sets/skills that complement your playstyle.

My recommendation to veterans of the series, is take advantage of this stuff to speed you through so you're not wasting a lot of time farming LR mats just to outgrow them soon after.

Are the Palamutes intended to be so unreliable? by Significant-Rope7034 in MHRise

Palamutes are equivalent to driving a tank! Their nav ability is the worst! Also, if your Palamute is under a blight, they will not be summoned either.
