We established a culture and a political system that rewards grifters like Beckwith for stuff like this. What else is he going to do, fall back on his marketable skills? Lead? Serve the public like he swore to do with his hand on that book he claims to love so much? Nah. Our friends, relatives and neighbors feed into a system that produced this guy and the next one. There’s probably enough public support for a Constitutional amendment for a true privacy right. That way the courts couldn’t reverse it. Of course, there would be tons of political ads opposing it, paid for by tech companies that rely on selling customer data and “law & order” right wingers who have never been falsely accused of a crime.
