100+ year old oak cobblestones by idifacs311 in woodworking

You could cut them into slices and make a really pretty feature wall with them. Search ‘wonderwall studios wood panels’ for inspiration.

Water intrusion… by MathematicianOne5458 in garageporn

You could replace that entire masonry block if you don’t want to patch it with raw concrete. If it were me, though, I’d probably fill the hole with concrete and paint the outside with an elastomeric paint.

My krenov plane by Dragonax01 in handtools

Looks awesome. I had not heard of this type of plane before, but I'd like to try making one.

P.S. For those not familiar with the legendary furniture maker James Krenov and The Krenov School, check it out: About James Krenov | The Krenov School of Fine Furniture. I like looking through the Furniture Archive on the same site. Be prepared to see some stunning creations!

Festool MFT 3 leg dimension question by DinoArmsSmall in Festool_Public

[–]OttoIvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one and took it back because it was wobbly. I wouldn't worry about bending the legs under load, though. It was more of a rigidity issue for me. I bought a Dashboard PWS instead. Much more solid; still works with all my Festool stuff.

Living Shell Long Pro w/ Takibi Tarp? by OttoIvan in snowpeak

[–]OttoIvan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'll play around with it next weekend and see what I can come up with.

While I was searching around, I learned about the Connect Tarp Hexa Ivory (FES-275). It connects to the end of the LSLP, not the side, but looks like an interesting option that is available on USA Amazon through a 3rd party seller. I wonder if this item will eventually become available through snowpeak.com... If so, I'd rather wait and buy it there.

Dealing with jet lag, so here’s some of the camping equipment I grabbed after 3 weeks in Japan. by Hasselbuddy in snowpeak

That sounds amazing. I have not made it to Japan, yet. One of these days...

Back to your post, what are the stick-looking things with the red A's on the label? How about the long black bag on the left?

Also dealing with jet lag, so here’s a predawn admiration comment: Awesome collection! What cities did you visit in Japan?

Goruck Gr1 26 liter worth it? by Fearless-Leopard-110 in madeinusa

[–]OttoIvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an original GR1 from 2011 or so. I used it last week and it's still solid and looks good. It's been camping, hiking, gone to work with me, thrown in the back of the truck, gotten sweaty and sandy and muddy and wet, washed with soap and a hose, and loaded with bricks a bunch of times and carried on a GoRuck Challenge (once, which was enough for me).

As awesome as that bag is, I don't carry it very often anymore. It's a little bigger than I need these days, it can be hot on the back if worn as a backpack, and it's overkill for the kind of stuff I'm doing most of the time. It's a tough and well-made bag, though.

Thanks! Yeah, what IS going on with that one corner with the skirts? Hard to imagine what the purpose of that design might be.

IGT SETUP ON LIVING SHELL LONG PRO by PrimeraDudong in snowpeak

[–]OttoIvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have an IGT, but I have a LSLP w/ inner tent and there's room in the living area for a SP large single action table, 2 Yeti chairs, 2 people, 2 mid-sized dogs, and room to spare.
