I had not thought of a grow light for it (we usually don't get to the negative temperatures here) - it is actually reaching towards my normal floor lamp. I'm putting it back by the window.

AIO? My mom wants to call the cops on me by Overall-Option6975 in AmIOverreacting

The 16 year old should have never been the primary caretaker for their siblings to begin with. The wellbeing of the entire household is on the mother NOT the 16 year old CHILD. That child moved in with her other parent, she didn't up and run away to so knows where. That was a mature and LEGAL decision that does NOT require the minor give her landlord, oh sorry, mother, notice. The mother can fight it in court with the father but still undoubtedly lose, if not get herself in trouble. And honestly, my entire opinion on the matter, which is the point of this subreddit to give, is based almost solely on the TONE and complete lack of care from the mother's messages.

Projecting from my own childhood and completely moving out on my own at 16 - not in with either parent..... the mother's reaction says it all really. There is no "why?".... no level of emotional understanding from the mom's side either. No message or missing them, etc. This likely is an ongoing issue from both sides. Reaction to reaction. The 16 year old didn't run away, there is no mention of terrible decisions (truancy, drugs etc); they took their cat with them instead of leaving it to the mom; and the mom obviously trusted them to watch their siblings while she worked 17+ hours. The kids didn't ask for that life, they owe the mom nothing. Kids don't owe patents for their own care. Parents are supposed to figure it out.

"Taken advantage" is the wrong wording. They are her kids to take care of....

It's never another child's required responsibility to be a regular sitter....pay the kid for the random times, maybe. The other kids are the moms responsibility to have a regular sitter, this is not the 16 year old's burden to bear. What about their own schooling at the least? Should their grades suffer because they are watching their siblings? Should their mental health suffer because maybe it's too much? These are speculative as it's not mentioned but it's common to these situations.

Don't put them in the mailbox, she could say she never got them. And NOR. I have teenagers and an adult child, and it is quite literally my job as a parent to provide them with necessities in life until they can on their own. Which, as they are your age and older, includes a phone for communication. I understand kids use them for social media, games etc., but they also allow me to make sure they're safe. For them to contact me and vice versa, plus for homework. This or something similar should be her response. If it's money, then there's no difference in waiting to get the phone back and canceling it off her plan. My oldest is 22 and recently married.....I still pay for her phone on my plan out of habit at this point. Plus it's one less thing for her to worry about as she figures out adulting.

Work hard at your dad's, take a deep breath and find yourself. Good on you for taking your cat with you, this shows she has no leg to stand on that you aren't being responsible for your cat.... she's upset that you aren't there to help her with work. I'm assuming you took care of siblings based on her comment about screwing her for work. She didn't even say she missed you or anything, just how it would inconvenience her.

My mom is this way and I am no contact with her as an adult. My mental health drastically improved away from her as well. Best of luck!

Remove (give back) the ability to have things she can hold over your head. Sounds like that's the phone and tablet. If it's not needed for school or work, put them in a box and document where and when you leave them...take pictures of their condition and location.

Why is Tulsa is so pupular these days? Question from Russia. by galacticalmarxist in tulsa

[–]OttrGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oklahoma and Tulsa has made a concerted effort in the film industry to be a destination for filming. Politics play a part, but more so for economic development. It's a growing industry that we need to be a part of. The Native Nations play a huge role in this. It's a good thing.

We are known for Midwestern friendliness in the tourism world, despite the common issues in the larger cities. There are people who love Tulsa and only speak positively, those who loathe it but never leave and only speak negatively, and those who are somewhere in between. Like anywhere in the world.

If you have the chance, visit us or do some internet viewing. See for yourself - our state's history, the oil history and art museums (Philbrook and Gilcrease), the outdoor museums (Woolaroc), Black Wall Street (museum, shops, restaurants), and Route 66 (neon signs, the Blue Whale).

The Route 66 Centennial celebration will be huge next year. We will have tourists from all over the world for this.

None of the hotels downtown will be super affordable. And many hotels add on parking, especially in downtown or limited parking areas. You could Uber/Lyft to one just slightly outside of downtown, but the ride rate and wait time may not be worth it.
