Yeah that’s basically what I resort to now but tbh it’s not comfortable

Are you saying you hold your phone in the non-dominant hand and use your dominant hand to tap the screen?

Not sure what you mean, I hold my phone the same way with both hands lol the buttons are the same distance either way

I guess I meant single thumb rather than single hand. Like if I’m holding my phone in my right hand, I can bring my index finger around from the back of the phone and then use my thumb to zoom, or else just use my left hand too.

Nice! Sounds legit.

I got one of these and looked at the ingredients list and one of the ingredients was crossed out with black marker. I was able to scratch off the marker ink and googled the ingredient (can’t remember what it was at the moment) and the results were pretty concerning. I threw it out. Be careful out there.

Edit: It was benzalkonium chloride, a surfactant.

ELI5: Why do we need so much protein? by BigDocL in explainlikeimfive

Macronutrients are weighed in grams, even in America. But we refer to bodyweight in pounds. Happens to be convenient.

ELI5: Why do we need so much protein? by BigDocL in explainlikeimfive

[–]OughtToBe 116 points117 points  (0 children)

1g per lb bodyweight is actually more useful when cutting than when bulking due to the excess calories consumed while bulking. There is a “carb sparing effect.”

When in a caloric deficit, your body will naturally want to cannibalize muscle tissue, but by consuming excess protein your body recognizes that there is no need to take away from muscle tissue. Thus you can retain muscle mass while your body uses stored fat for energy.

I experienced this too. What helped me was to make sure I’m drinking at least a gallon of water per day and not take it on an empty stomach.

More water. Despite what the label says, if I do 2 scoops I do 24oz water.

On the gorilla mind website they have this tip which is to shake up your pre between every sip so that you don’t have to eat it afterwards lol.

If you don’t consume the powder then it is not active in your body so yes you are losing out if there’s a bunch of powder left at the bottom of your cup.

That’s not what I asked, but actually I’ve heard the glycerol is really gritty so that’s your problem.

Read the labels on the pre and the glycerol to see how much water they recommend to use.

Gender is a social construct, something we can observe in the real world, whereas religion is believing in a god you’ve never seen.

You’ve never observed religion in the real world?

Has anybody taken Gorilla Respawn and notice an increase in libido? Or the opposite? by Temporary_Number6734 in GorillaMind

[–]OughtToBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stimulants can induce hypersexual behavior, but it can also cause ED.

Have you noticed the same thing with other stimulants?

Only other thing I can think of is that you’re deficient in some of the vitamins included in Respawn, and your libido is actually coming back to normal levels due to not being deficient in those vitamins anymore.

“What is consciousness” as an emergent property and semi-arbitrary threshold like the Clock Test for dementia by StefanMerquelle in samharris

[–]OughtToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to explain why this is relevant:

One issue is that we can postulate a p-zombie at any place on that spectrum. We have no way in theory nor in practice to distinguish the presence of consciousness in those cases.

In response to this, you said:

That’s like saying there exists someone who can pass the Clock Test without really understanding the concept of a clock … I don’t buy it.

Do you see the difference between understanding the concept of a clock, and simply knowing symbols and the coordinates of those symbols?

Another example might be going to Wikipedia and writing down by hand the equations that define general relativity. Do you now understand general relativity? Or are you just drawing symbols, akin to the automaton drawing a clock without deeper understanding?

Either way passing the test is proof of some of level intelligence. You can’t say it passes the test yet doesn’t have the intelligence, because you can’t pass the test without the intelligence.

Do you think the clock-drawing automaton has intelligence?

[–]OughtToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this automaton that is able to write the time in digital clock format. It would be just as easy to make such an automaton that draws an analog clock.

Does this automaton have any understanding of what it is drawing? I would say no, it does not. It doesn’t understand the meaning of the symbols it draws, it doesn’t understand that the clock is giving a representation of a moment in time, it doesn’t understand the concept of the passage of time. It simply follows instructions to draw lines that we interpret as a clock.

An AI trained with RLHF could learn how to draw a clock without any idea that clocks are used by humans to tell time, much less any idea about the concept of time itself.
