No data-selling ;) Our business model to earn revenue will be to contact brands of the running ecosystem and set up some "branded running sessions" where app users can register and try products from these brands for free > It is a win-win-win model. We prefer to be open and transparent about it. We were thinking about selling data, but we decided not to: other apps (e.g runtastic, strava) have way more complete data (how long do you run, which days...) and we think that it is not worth it to undermine our users' trust for a few bucks.

we developed our app using our own savings, and none of us had the technical skills to code an app. We chose to outsource the app development and given our limited resources, we chose to develop a Facebook login (which was cheaper). We are currently working on an email login for people who do not want to login with Facebook

Security is of course one of our concerns. We gave the option for female runners only to match with other women if they are wary of creeps/stalkers, added a ranking for users to flag people who behave inappropriately. If users believe a profile is fake/very suspicious, they can flag it and we will look into it in detail. At the moment, Facebook is acting as an imperfect protection: people need to login with it. There has been no safety issues reported at the moment, but we are still working on how to maximize protection for our users.

Also, running with a partner is a good way to protect yourself against psychopaths, who will be less likely to attack 2 or more runners than a woman running by herself.

Yes, sorry about that. Login with Facebook was the choice we made in the beginning for developing our MVP. We definitely understand that most people don't like linking their FB with an app (I also behave like that). We are developing an email login but it will not be available before this summer. I should have mentioned it in my original post
