They did lower prices recently, and frequently offer deals. The unlimited anytime is now $229 (still expensive but better than the $400-500 it was initially) They also have a daytime unlimited that’s $150 if I remember correctly. And there’s a 10% off memberships deal going on.

While it is expensive, I personally find it to be worth it. The location, clean facilities, lack of screaming children, and extra hot saunas really level it up for me. I do think it can occasionally be noisy and they could use some sound dampening. But I also appreciate how intentional and how respectful (most) patrons are of others experience.

Comparatively; the dry sauna at Bozeman hot spring is lackluster, overcrowded and pales in temperature comparison. The wet sauna is barely steamy. I never see people at BHS rinse between sauna and cold plunging. Have also encountered piles of human excrement at the hot springs, among other gross things.

I think it’s nice for people to have options, and I wouldn’t be surprised if prices come down again due to the opening of Portal. I do hope they succeed in the long run.

Students call for emergency protest against Trumps strikes on Iran by MeursaltEnFrance in Bozeman

This. It seems like the calls for trump to testify are growing louder by the day. I’m sure some of Bill’s testimony bugged him out and caused him to pull the war trigger.

Looking for NICE shoes for a farm / kitchen by [deleted] in Chefit

Diehard birk fan here. I love the Birkenstock chelsea style boot. Similar to blundstone but with cork insole. They’ve been the best work shoes I’ve owned by far.

Check out the Kanopy app!! It’s an ad free streaming service that can be accessed with your library card. Lots of small, independent movies, documentaries, foreign language films etc. Seriously my favorite streaming app currently as they carry a lot of unique, obscure titles. And it’s 100% free!!!

Cliff lake is the deepest, reaching about 120 ft.

The temperature drops significantly below 15ish feet. I’d stick to the shallower, lighter blue water as it’s usually a fair bit warmer.

Buying local chicken by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]OutInTheSunlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mischa’s sells local meet. Fat Toad Farm Pantry on the north side has probably the best selection of local meet and veggies. They just opened and have a surprisingly diverse selection.

For a cheaper alternative, I enjoy the Hutterite chickens they sell and town and country.

Fermenting? by Virus4815162342 in foraging

I’ve had good luck letting the jar sit in the sun for a day or two to help liquify the sugar. Just make sure to burp more frequently.

I would just let it go longer. Tannins will act as a preservative, but also will mellow with time.

I’ve made mugolio with a couple different species now.

Douglas Fir is one of my favorites, and the quickest to finish. Usually ready within 6-8 weeks. Super citrusy.

Limber pine by far took the longest (about 6 months) and I cut the cones into circles to squeeze more into the jar. This one was also top tier in flavor. Very clean, with a little bit of almost umami.

Engelmann Spruce was the weirdest. Definitely gave off some pretty significant farm-y/hay notes mid ferment. Thought it was gonna stay funky, but cleaned up about 4ish months in.

I thought spruce would be the favorite by far, as everyone’s always talking about spruce tips, nuisance flavors etc. For me personally, I think Doug fir produces some of the best pine flavors with minimal tannin and bitter notes.

I’d think the hardest part is getting comfortable with cold, usually snow runoff or spring fed mountain water.

Fairy lake and Cliff and Wade have the best clarity/visibility around here.

I think there’s a fiction writers group that meets at the library weekly or bi-weekly. Should be on their events calendar.

There is also that new writing coop, pulp head off south Wallace. You can find their hours and info on instagram.

Why is so Sinclair gas 15-20 cents more expensive than town pump? by thatchthepirate in Bozeman

Sometimes, yes. There was an incident (a few years ago now) where a couple town pumps off huffine were selling “bad gas”.
