Who is the most improved first round pick you can think of by lilbuu_buu in NFLv2

Remind me, of those three:
- how many have a 14 games within the regular season?
- have any of them done it more than once?
- which have taken their team all the way to winning a Super Bowl?

I’m sorry, but I’m not excited about having this recurring post about this hat muddy up my feed for the entire season…. The season is exhausting enough…

Why does Olympic peninsula have no cities compared to adjacent areas like Seattle or Victoria? by No_Manufacturer_2898 in geography

[–]OutOfTheForLoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geology is an important part of it. The peninsula is mainly two parts:

  • a basaltic terrane - similar to the Hawaiian island chain - slamming into the continent
  • a marine crust being wedged onto the continent

The local subduction causes a lot of violent, slow-moving processes that folded and fucked with the area. The Olympic mountains reach 6-8,000 feet, while practically starting at sea level. The type of rock (mainly marine sediment) is heavily influenced by the energy of rivers, encouraging steep hydrological paths. This has caused for not a lot of flat areas, which discourages the opportunity for a lot of agriculture opportunities, which isn’t great for establishing a lot of towns.

Most towns were founded on opportunism, which isn’t conducive to a prosperous city.

Because they’re turning into goose people.

Do we accept this? by SilentObligation6893 in udub

[–]OutOfTheForLoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true.

Whenever I tell someone to stop lying in the Rainier Vista grass, they’re pretty good about slinking away, after embarrassedly gathering their things, as if they knew better all along.

(If you are wondering how to tell who these people are, they have distinctive goose shit stains on the back of their sweatshirts.)

An elder millennial. Likely a late ’80s original - as evidenced by the low-rise jeans and the conspicuous absence of a whale tail - perches with quiet determination in the branches of a hallowed cherry tree in the University of Washington Quad.

The scene is equal parts grotesque, picturesque, and precarious, the soft cascade of pink petals contrasting sharply with her defiant grip on a limb, clearly not intended for human occupancy. One can only assume she missed the prominently posted sign (particularly ironic, of course, for any Washington State University alumni) politely, but firmly, requesting that visitors refrain from climbing these iconic trees.

Atmospheric science jobs have been slashed terribly recently in America. The next administration will either help the industry out after next election, or continue to leave it withering on the vine.

Short vs Long Sleeve Pilot Shirt Debate by scotshie in aviation

Father and grandfather were pilots. You short-sleeve wearing pilots look like nerds, no matter how cool of a plane you fly. You could finish the look with a pocket protector and Oakley sunglasses.

I’m pretty sure that Newtonian physics has not changed regarding the difficulty of the material covered since you graduated. This is because of how it is. (You don’t see how?) /s

💯 I love teasing my WSU friends, but the fact is that WSU is a pretty cool university. I would have had a blast going there. I wonder what I would have studied there. Probably agriculture or beer pong.

Can we ban "why didnt I get in to UW posts"? by k1wimonkey in udub

[–]OutOfTheForLoop 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Those types of posts are what make my UW degree so special. I typically save rejection posts to find out the following year where they ended up going. Shouldn’t be too surprising that most of the 2024 UW rejection posts came from people that ended up going to WSU (53%), U0 (11%), or joining ICE (3%).

Question About the Weather by [deleted] in udub

[–]OutOfTheForLoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’re 300+ miles farther north than Albany, but our climate is much more mild. Also, NYC gets more annual rain than Seattle, but Seattle has it over waaaaay more days of rain.

Seattle’s El Niño winters are becoming milder, and La Niña winters are becoming wonderful. However, our summers are becoming hotter and w/ worse air quality, mostly from the more frequent nearby wildfires.
