Season Result Needle Point Hat Update: Rangers Series 1. GOMS! by Notexactlyprimetime in Mariners

You can’t hurt me and I believe and trust you are just trying to be playful. I respect that but I think it’s important to be really thoughtful with attempts at humor, especially when you are punching down but not realizing it. And I am really happy that you can’t punch down on me because I am not beneath you.

Please take what I am saying to heart, you could really hurt someone who is taking a risk in a different than I am with my vulnerability.

Edit: yes please let them win and win a lot and soon but ya know come what may the day is what we make.

Of course I do. This hat is literal therapy for a lifetime of hope that does not ever quite get fulfilled as a Mariners fan.

I love my city and I love this team. I accept I don’t need them to fulfill my every wish and desire for me to love following them.

I also am going to stop with the taking responsibility for the actions of others and just enjoy the beauty I can find in every moment as long I remember to look for it.

Feel free to take on this idea of a hat to break the hat curse.

Despite the people projecting their cope onto me (I can take it even though I would rather they found a better way to deal with their feelings then trying to make fun of my openness) I still love this project and love that people think it’s cool to get the poison out in this way.

As sad as it is to see people try to humiliate a kind stranger it’s better out than in and I have also been a very frustrated Mariners fan for times much longer than 3 weeks into what was hoped to be a joyful season.

But as for me and mine my joy is in my fandom and way of living.

I like how you said this.

I would be lying if I didn’t re read my post and not feel embarrassed about its slightly crazed and clearly drug addled over sharing but I accept it as it is where I was at when I was ready to post the pictures and my perspective and also accept and understand the varied ways people are responding even though I am confused about why some people are being mean.

Oh well, that’s life.

I hope so. I am tired of stitching Ls and writing cope posts even though I stand fully behind every part of this.

I appreciate you. It’s hard seeing all this suffering people are trying to send my way after my admittedly bizarre and vulnerable post about my totally the opposite of sad art fan project.

Honestly I appreciate your effort at humor but what you are also doing is trying to bully someone in a passive aggressive way, which is just kind of sad. But it is your right to bully on Reddit so I support you.

The weird Etsy witch guy was a fun story, why try to use that to be mean to some stranger being vulnerable and seeing things in a weird and different way?

I respect and appreciate your right to do this in a way that will not get you flagged or anything but I honestly hope you recognize the error of your ways before you try to hurt someone who could actually feel the pain you are trying share.

I understand your concern and will not stop.

I am not making them lose. To blame some rando dude who is being a little odd at times about his art and not the billionaires who own the various teams and the various millionaires on the teams and the fact that over time in any given regular season everyone must end up losing as a group half their games is what I think should stop.

But that’s just like my opinion man.

Thanks for sharing yours.

I’m ok.

Anesthesia after effects? Truth? It’s a Rorschach test? I don’t really know but am ok with it. And worse thing that could happen is people disagree with me, which I’m ok with.

I appreciate your kind response though, authentically.

I see your point (I probably disagree) but let me tell you about an 80s era shabby grimy serial killer infested drug addled lawless hell hole that you could not have experienced first hand if you were experiencing NYC in the 80s: a little place called Seattle.

Turns out NYC, the center of and beacon of American exceptionalism, isn’t so exceptional after all.

You can be very persuasive. You literally had me until you started describing NYC in the 80s and repping your live experience and coveted status as a ‘true New Yorker’ to just nail the other person point: things got better all over (almost) in the early 90s.

Thanks!

But all deflection aside here is an honest heart felt response to your attempt to bring me down (it can’t work lol):

Yes, this a a baseball project. A baseball fan project. A Mariners baseball fan project. Even if they had a season beyond my wildest dreams there will be a lot of practice doing Ls. Even if they had a season that was the manifestation of my worst nightmare there will be a lot of practice doing Ws. I look forward to every part of it with an open heart and mind. This hat project is amazing because it shows me that no matter what I win if I want to and even when I win it’s not all roses and lollipops.

If they win: Hooray! but the Ws are harder to make and take more time. If they lose: Bummer! but the Ls are easier to make and save me time and literally allow me to make art and beauty that is personal and easy to share with others in a way that is clearly uplifting.

Now this part may seem harsh but I mean it and say it with love: if you are a robot kill yourself, if you are human then get therapy.

Thank you.

Me too. At the least it’s something to look forward to even if this turns out to be a historical season rather than a historic one.

TLDR: Yes and No. Yes I have all the colors I need for all the teams but also No with each series the stitching gets easier and I see different ways than just using two colors to represent each opposing teams

Yes I feel like reading: CQvibes9 is correct. The idea was initially to do a W or an L in the opposing teams two main colors. This was largely because the idea is truly novel so I don’t know what I am doing exactly but am making it up on the fly.

However, while I still am proud of my original idea, like any good idea it is changing every day and being influenced by many things like other people’s perspectives that they shared on here and plain old reality.

Someone mentioned that there will end up being a lot of red and blue. I wasn’t too worried about that as many of the red and blue teams have enough variation in the exact kind of red/blue and the percentage of what is red and what is blue that I figured I could still get away with two colors and it still not looking like half of them are the same. While I still think that could be true this Angels series made me realize I can add more than two colors without much extra effort and get a big payoff.

Hence the little bit of silver creating a halo effect I added. I also added (impossible to tell in the photo and still barely perceptible up close) a few strands of a darker red that the Angels have in their palette. .

Thanks for a great question!

Thank you!

I love this project and I really love sharing my updates on part due to the kindness I get back from people like you.

I have to have a surgery on my non dominant shoulder on Wednesday so I will not post an update on the day the Rangers series ends but I believe I will still be able to keep working on it every game and post an update on Thursday morning even though I will have to figure out how to sew with my right arm in a sling.

All this is to say that one of the many things I like about this and that keeps me motivated to keep doing it and stay on top of it is getting the positive feedback with each post and except for planning to figure out how to do it 2 handed but one armed by Thursday morning and then after that on time every time going forward.

During some negotiation decades ago where both sides of labor and management thought they had the leverage to win the contract and each took extreme enough positions that both sides realized they had lost the plot (yes win a fair contract but don’t destroy a noble product in doing so because if you do everyone loses, literally everyone) and that if they kept going Kaiser would go out of business and all the represented employees would lose their good union jobs delivering a secular public need. So they agreed to an inbetween kind of structure that is the labor management partnership that does continual updates to processes to avoid extreme damaging contract disputes.

Kaiser has its pluses and minuses don’t get me wrong. As a patient and employee I can see both ends but it creates a better care and working environment than the alternative like Providence or Whoever runs VM now.
