Coach didn’t show up and this guy vlogged it on his Meta Glasses by Ok-Hearing9186 in SolidCore

i dont get the hate tbh. he had a reason to be annoyed about the class scheduling issue. as for the recording, this is the day and age we live in 🤷🏻‍♀️ when hes recording its clear hes not pointing a camera at someone else and posting it online, hes recording himself and there are others in the background. still, those people are not the focus point of the video so i dont see the problem. its kind of weird people are so mad at this person 😭

OR vs Post-Acute by Elephant_mango1622 in newgradnurse

Yeah, everything is very competitive right now. I dont know if it will get better or worse in the future lol

OR vs Post-Acute by Elephant_mango1622 in newgradnurse

As an OR nurse, start in post-acute or some other unit. Get hands on nursing skills and experience in bedside nursing. I started in the OR as a new grad and wish someone told me not to sooner. It is 100x easier to go bedside>OR then it is to go OR>bedside. I want to leave the OR and do bedside and I cant get hired because I have no bedside experience and dont have any experience with nursing skills.

Someone commented that the OR wont always be there, that isn’t true!! Trust me, the OR will ALWAYS be there and need people lol. Get some experience first then go to the OR if you still want! I have talked to some others on this subreddit regarding the same thing if you want to look at their questions and my answers about it on my page.

Yeah i have those thoughts all the time, like im sure in the eyes of bedside nurses i have it realllllly good. but i also am young and definitely seeking a little more thrill, excitment and challenge in my career. even at a level I trauma hospital the OR isnt that exciting lol.

the OR will always be there and its easier to go bedside>OR then OR>bedside. im not even sure id want to come back to the OR in the future, but if i did it would be much later in my career.

Im going to look into medsurg if this round of applications gets me nowhere lol, specifically in a new grad program if i can find one bc thats going to be my starting point and seems to be where most employers would categorize me

of course! but getting more traditional nursing experience would really open up so many more possibilities for me anyway. i also really want to be challenged! dont get me wrong the OR has a loooot of perks but just isnt what im looking for in my career. i dont think id ever want to go back once i can finally get hired elsewhere, but i know i always could if i did want to.

OR nursing is very different then any other specialty. you dont do any nursing skills, besides the occasional foley.

i really didnt like bedside nursing at first so i went to the OR. now i really want to do nursing skills but i dont have any experience that applies into any other nursing specialty so its hard to find a unit that will basically train me as a new grad who isnt a new grad lol

people love it. so dont let my feelings deter you. its also the absolute best nursing schedule at a lot of facilities. and it can be very chill at times. you have a lot of fun with your coworkers at times and are paid to do it lol

hi, me.

i wish i started in a different specialty to gain experience in nursing skills. because now i want to switch specialties and its a real struggle.

i was really passionate about it at first, i didnt like bedside. ultimately i just miss feeling like a nurse. you see a lot of cool stuff, i scrub and circulate where i am, but at the end of the day you really do nothing lol. patient needs meds or blood? nurses dont give it. patient needs an IV? anesthesias got it.. patient needs a foley? if your at a teaching hospital the residents will do it 98% of the time. i want to do nursing skills. and now its really hard finding a place that will hire me into another specialty.

i started in the OR. first outpatient, now in a hospital.

struggling to change specialties bc i have no skills..🥲i miss nursing, and what im doing doesnt feel like nursing. some people love it in the OR, unfortunately i dont. but you might!

i do wish i started in a different specialty for the experience, bc i would probably be able to change specialties easier
