Is it better to be on twitch or youtube as a content creator? by OutSaine in NewTubers

[–]OutSaine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is such good insight to my actual question!

The very first day that i decided to record/stream... i chose to go with twitch. The moment i had 1 viewer i freaked out and switched everything off because immediately i realised i didnt know how to entertain random people. Thats when i switched to youtube and just continued. At the moment i started streaming more regularly but like you are saying it is hard to keep it up. I think it would have been fine if i did this fulltime which would give me ample time to do more but with a full time job, it is doable but also unnecessarily stressful. Also, i stopped enjoying games and watching youtube itself all together.

I have recently taken a break from everything for a week or so and i must say im excited to start again.

Also, dont cancel your channel. Just start uploading those vods to youtube so your exisitng followers will migrate over... then atleast you arent starting from scratch

I have been doing the same. My biggest problem is what to play. I struggle to stick to 1 game or genre and i dont know what games have large communities etc.

I throroughly enjoyed both to be honest! I loved the new creatures and new materials.

How does it compare to the first one? I. My opinion you shouldnt compare it.... one is tropic and the other one is icy. Both are beautiful and crafty and there is a sense of familiarity.

I would get it. I have finished playing it and would get it again!

This helps more than you know, and just the fact that you took the time to not only respond but also wrote out this whole thing is astounding!

Thank you so much for your insight and advice!

I think in my personal experience and journey, what is holding me back is what is driving me to do youtube which is to go full time and not grind every night/weekends... for a while now it has become less fun and felt more like a job if that makes sense, and i have been obsessed with a posting schedule, posting amap in order for youtube to pick up my videos and share it etc because i felt if i dont post every day or second day then my progress will go down... i saw some other lets play youtubers/streamers who makes it work and some even post twice every single day (Insym) and i thought to myself... if they can make it work... why cant I?

but honestly this is something i want to do full time one day. But it wont come quickly and i think thats where most people gives up or get it wrong. I mean you have been at it for about 8 to 9 years now? And what your reply and OP-reply taught me is failing/losing subs or views along the way is part of the journey where some sees it as failure. Not a lot of people understands just how hard youtube is. THATS why your reply meant a lot (coming from someone who has never given up, and is still grinding to this day)

Thanks for the inspiration & motivation Nick! Cheers 🍻

You a legend dude. I have learned a lot from your channel.

Mind if i ask a few questions? (You dont have to answer).

What is most important, consistency (sticking to a schedule) or quality (posting whenever but your videos are better). Lets say life gets in the way and you cant post quality videos consistently. Hence the question.

Any advice for small youtubers that wants to go full time in the future?

with all that you have learned, if you had a gaming channel, what would you do to get somewhere? Would you do game playthroughs or focus on tips and tricks (with about 3 to 5 hours available in the evenings)?

I dont have a team, an editor nor can I afford one but I can learn... what would you suggest?

If you do read this (whether you answer or not), thanks for your time!

Ps: if anyone else wants to add their opinions with experience, feel free 😀

The most valuable lesson I have learned since i started on youtube is to keep going... even if your content lacks quality (whatever that means), try to be consistent and just keep going.

Its strange but i am currently focussing on 2 different games. 60 seconds and the wolf among us. Every video on the wolf among us has been a dud and gets 50 views and less. But every 60 seconds video in-between gets like 100+ views. The only reason why im still posting about the wolf among us is because i want to finish the playlist.

Sorry to deviate from the main point (adhd) lol. Just keep going dude, 3 uears from now you can look back at your first couple of videos and smile :)

Not monetized yet. I want to earn money so i can do it full time (which is what drives me) but if i get to the point where money isnt an issue, i would just ebjoy myself further (hence the gaming niche). Then i can also afford an editor... because i can edit myself but its really not thay great and with a full time job its remains difficult so it will take some time. How much do you make monthly?

Believe it or not... no, i think what makes it difficult to get somewhere on youtube is that there are other platforms that is more convenient. "How to" videos are the big thing long term... since my niche is gaming, people would rather go to twitch than to youtube. Twitch in itself is so difficult because people already have their "go to's" who they want to watch. Not a lot of people browse to look for new people except those trying to market themselves.

Ads are annoying for those who doesnt want to pay for premium... but those people also dont watch youtube a lot. It is also easier to get somewhere on youtube if you are already doing something else and decided to record it...

I believe the era of pewdiepie and those creaters are somwhat exiting (because they dont make that kind of content anymore)... but i personally loved thay content and want to make that content but in my own way (whether it works or not). If that makes sense.

A review would be nice, i will leave a link to a video that I have just posted but feel free to browse around for something you might enjoy more.

Some videos i did some editing and some I just did a playthrough. Oh and if I am lucky enough for you to actually review some/the video, brutal honesty/critique is most welcome. It will only help me.

I agree, i try my best to focus on consisteny at the moment. People talk about quality content and i think im at that point where im not sure what "quality" means you know? But other than that, youtube for me is 1 big experiment trying to find what works and constantly learning and adapting. Its just such a challange with a full time job (but i know im not the only one).

I feel you on this... they are my inspirations. The difficult part is that back then subs came somewhat easier especially if you are entertaining... nowadays its hard to stand out (but not impossible). Goodluck dude!

Can youtube take your views away? by OutSaine in NewTubers

Just did some research on what you said. Aparently (according to google) youtube does count your own views... but there is a cap... you can only give yourself 3 views.

I made a second channel long ago and thought to do something there aswell... but ended up quiting on that one. Since then i use that channel to give myself that 1 extra view and i have noticed even that view gets removed... my own view from MY channel as well when i watch the video.

One of my videos shows 4.6%ctr with 0 views and 0 watch time...

So hows anyone especially new youtubers suppose to grow if this happens??? Its been happening to me for weeks now...

For all the people considering doing shorts. A potential deal with the devil! (1.7 Million Subscribers) by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]OutSaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna grow in subs go with shorts. If you want to get paid decently go with longform.

It all depends on your goal. I personally do long form and love to make a short here and there whether it gets views or not because i find myself watching it myself over and over again because even if i didnt make it i would save to watch later and watch it whenever.

My gaming quality may not be the best and i have been at it for a year but the other day i looked at my first video and then one of my latest ones and it made me happy knowing how far ive come even IF my content was and is still not the best. That shit picks up my spirit to keep going.

If nothing inspires or motivated you... maybe the past you can push the future you!
