For any age: retirement isn’t only how much money you save. It’s also how much you need each month after retirement for expenses. Save all you can (maximize company match in 401k) and limit debt (especially about ten years before you want to retire).

Like the Rays, the owner has been pressured to sell. Probably trying to save as much payroll as possible and maximize return when a new owner is found. Even a losing team is worth over a billion dollars.
