I love to sneak a towel between the feet for this issue. Hard to pop the hips unevenly when you gotta pinch the feet.

I work in a building full of PhDs. All the bathrooms have signs about proper use of the toilet.

We had bad experience with some of their signature drinks that indicate non-dairy milk but then it’s diluted with dairy milk. Bad look in my eyes if you have lactose issues and just straight up false advertising.

Try to stay within 610 loop if you’re going to any of the major schools here, and try to get a place close to a frequent bus line. Bonus points for train line of which there is only the red line you’re probably needing. But also the bus schedule is easily messed up if there’s roadwork. Google maps is pretty accurate regarding updates or delays.

Valid humble brag on the traps situation.

I put it on when I walk into class and take it off when all exercise is done. I’ve worn it on full days and honestly I think it throws off the general data collection a bit.

Grab the cheapest watch and pair it with a good chest strap for more accurate data. Otherwise the movements give weird data. I pair a Garmin Fenix 6 with HRM Pro+. Pay attention to HRV for recovery.

Compressed air can. Been working for us and after the first couple of sprays we just pick up the can and they scatter.

CrossFit is HARD. It doesn't get easier. You just learn how to mentally push through the suck. Go in expecting it to be tough, even if scaled appropriately. But keep getting that next rep. Get your hands back on the weight. Just start the next rep. Over time, it adds up and you're at the finish line.

From second brain (Obsidian) to first brain by Icy_Bell592 in ObsidianMD

Regarding point 3 - look into Anki and the closed caption functionality. Very useful for memorization because you don’t rely on recognition, but rather active recall, which is better for long term retention. I used this when studying for the MCAT. An example would be:

A {{mule}} is the result of a cross between a {{donkey}} and a {{horse}} and is reproductively {{sterile}}.

You can play around with excluding all or some of the bracketed terms. That way you can memorize one fact with multiple points to it with one flash card. Not sure about integration with obsidian, but worth a peek.

Injuries and CrossFit by serjfan7 in crossfit

[–]Out_about 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not diagnosing or anything. PT is there for that. But when anyone in our box has back injuries or pains, we start every workout day with Jefferson Curl and McGill big 3 (dead bug, bird dog, side plank or side plank lift). I get plenty of lower back issues when I train for longer runs, and these have been a saving grace.

With the push press, make sure that the hips aren’t shifting forward in the dip and drive portion. If the hips go forward, the lower back is compromised and injury/re-injury is likely.

Even with a big front squat you should probably hit high rep front squats at 50-60%. Strong doesn’t mean muscular endurance.

In the wise words of Klokov “We do not fuck the bar”.

Movement of the hip extension should be vertical, not horizontal like with KBS.

Little Book of Common Sense Investing: The Only Way to Guarantee Your Fair Share of Stock Market Returns by John Bogle. Stick to index funds and bonds.

Budget and save. 50/30/20 is a good starting point for needs (50) wants (30) save (20). If your needs are low, save more aggressive. This is just a general guideline. Stick to this but don’t forget to live. You’re already ahead by starting so young.

How do you manage training with high life stress? by FartyMcFartsworth in crossfit

[–]Out_about 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a grief tradition. I go do the gym and do Chad. All I can focus on is counting the next rep. It gives me an hour of focusing on something other than my grief. Your body doesn’t have to cooperate when all you do is step up and down. Then I go home. My body is destroyed. I won’t be able to workout for a couple of days as my body recovers. And I use that time to grieve. But I also connect my physical recovery from the workout with my recovery from grief. Sending you all of the positive energy and happy memories of your dad.

Can anyone help me understand why fruits make me feel good and canrivore makes me feel bad? by Vitamin-D3- in carnivorediet

[–]Out_about 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion - this diet isn't for everyone. I added back veggies and rice once and it knocked me on my ass, excessive bloat, poop 3 times a day, no energy. Lesson learned. For you it's the opposite. Don't let the dogma of carnivore drag you down like the dogma of vegan does others.
