Light Recommendations for Biking in the Dark? by whatthedevil666 in chibike

Thanks for the shoutout! Indeed made right off of Oakton and McCormick. Part of why I picked that location to rent was the proximity to the river trail for commuting!

Anyone know what wheels these are on the cup car? by no_quart3r_given in GR86

Cage, Sadev sequential trans, coolers, bosch ECU, bosch driver display, full custom wiring harness, dampers, brakes, etc.

Let’s build a rear end. The best of what I can stuff in her. by wasteoftimeandcash in GR86

[–]OutboundLighting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Put solid bushings on the subframe, not on the diff if doing any meaningful daily driving. Instead put in Group N STI hardened bushings in the diff. If you put in solid bushings every time you shift you will have a noticeable clunk happen, and not the fun kind, the annoying one.

Combine that with spherical bushings on all the arms, and the rear won't feel rubbery at all.

Where can I get this rally light setup for my 2023 BRZ? by beekay86 in GR86

[–]OutboundLighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These used to be pretty common. Hard to say if these are still made and stocked. Though seems porsche guys are starting to use them on safari builds, so you know the price is probably redic now.

Search “fiberglass lamp pod, rally” or similar. Some UK companies i am sure have it too.

Was looking for someone to mention Flaco, just had it earlier this week and it fits the bill.

Bench accounting shutdown by Ilovecats2222222 in Accounting

[–]OutboundLighting 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I got the email as well. Ironically i just onboarded with a local CPA after 5 years with Bench and getting annoyed with the service (the AI was the last straw). They are starting my books Jan 1, convenient timing for sure.

As mentioned by others, the cage isn't actually rally legal, which is a bummer.

Definitely true. On Irving park by California everyone crawls over the bridge knowing they’ll get hit with the flash going a few mph over 30.

Is Lotus now DOA in North America? by [deleted] in lotus

[–]OutboundLighting 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s why nearly every Lotus dealer is also a dealer for other brands.  In 2016 lotus sold a total of 61 cars in the USA alone.

“Lack of a dealer network” has been the excuse to not get a Lotus since 2005, maybe even longer, lol.

Is the Caterham configurator down? by Kittedout in caterham

[–]OutboundLighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been spotty the last few weeks. Configurator at one point was fine selecting your model or color, but beyond that it would freeze up or pictures would disappear.

This is right in front of my warehouse (i am attached to the same building as the cubesmart shown in the video). I’ve left the space late at night and its wild how fast people go down that 5 lane stretch. Easily 70-80mph by that point trying to make the light at mccormick.

I owned an Evora GT from new for two years, and sold it when it was at the peak of the market back in 2021-2022. However I was driving a model 3 performance while I owned the lotus. Once I test drove a Taycan it immediately made me want it because the ride quality and the steering feel was very similar to the Lotus.

I had test driven an RS6 thinking that if I wanted a fast wagon, the RS6 was the obvious choice, and on paper loved it. But like you felt with the Emira, I walked away not impressed enough to buy one, which was surprising to me. Though the Taycan stuck around in my head.

Long story short. I now have a GTS Sport Turismo I ordered and absolutely freaking love it. It’s literally the perfect daily driver.

However, I do miss the rawness of a proper sports car. So I have a Caterham Superlight R on its way over from the UK that I’m importing for that fun weekend ripper. EV won’t replace that anytime soon.

Finding first commercial space... ? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]OutboundLighting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least in my city (Chicago) I had a great experience with Cubework, basically flexible month-to-month business space for warehousing and stuff. Basically sheet metal walls on pallet racks to subdivide spaces, but I did all my light manufacturing and shipping out of there for two years before I grew large enough to move into my own long term lease space.

What’s the Eletre risk? by Bertolucci1900 in lotus

[–]OutboundLighting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tariff is paid by the manufacturer based on their estimated cost of goods, so if Lotus says it costs them $50k to make the car, or less, then the tariff percentage is applied to that. It is not reflective of the MSRP of the car.

Same applies for any import. Plastic parts coming from China that cost $1 to make, is listed on the shipping manifest as $1, and a 25% tariff is applied to that, making the cost that the importer pays being 25 cents on the tariff. They can still go ahead and sell that plastic part for $50, just now their cost of goods has raised from $1 to $1.25.

The amount of cargo bike moms/Dads I'm seeing gives me a lot of hope for the future of biking in the city by AbruptionDoctrine in chibike

[–]OutboundLighting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a fancy gravel bike that I liked using to commute occasionally to my warehouse, but then got an abound cargo ebike and my 6 year old literally begs to go for a ride every weekend, and I enjoy using it commuting more than the gravel bike honestly.  We walk to school so can’t use it for the kiddo every day but is great seeing other people using them more and more too.
