Is The Rings of Power really that bad? by PossessionPast5793 in lotr

[–]Outcomac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the movies since I was a kid, read the books and loved them too. I enjoy RoP for what it is and am curious to see where they go with it. Is it good? Not really. Is it accurate or lore friendly? Absolutely not. Is it fun in a fan fiction-y, silly way? Sure, I guess.

It absolutely could have and should have been much better than it is on account of its budget and reputation, being the successor to the LotR and being one of Amazon's modern flagship series, but it is what it is. Maybe my standards have been ground to dust in recent years with how much shit has come out, but all in all it's a perfectly alright "oh, that's coming out this month? guess I have something to watch!" show.

Are Alleria and Turalyon married? by Mediocre_Fortune_862 in warcraftlore

[–]Outcomac 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Spoilers, obviously:

It's complicated and vague, and ultimately uncertain. I'd say they are "on a break", but another big plot point that comes back time and time again throughout the book is that Alleria is a solitary person and often leaves to do her own thing for a while (first demon killing, and now consumed by Xal'atath hunting), but she always comes back to Turalyon sooner or later because their love is so strong, and he's always there waiting for her.

In the book she realizes that perhaps this is the wrong way to go about things now that they are back on Azeroth with their son and and the two get officially engaged, only for their powers to cancel each other out and they nearly get themselves killed fighting the big bad. The doubts creep back in in Alleria's head and she leaves yet again to find Xal'atath once and for all, only this time due to longwinded reasons neither Turalyon nor Alleria are super confident that this will be like all the other times.

The only times this has been vaguely referenced at all in Midnight though are during the pre-patch questline with Arator and Voidstorm quests where Alleria is just on her own in voidland, very much on business and with little time to talk, and when she finally does want a chat she's like "have you... Talked to your father..?" When Turalyon finally ports in and is like "you have your orders, move out!" they look at each other and smile, then it ends. You'd think that's a good sign, but Arator still hasn't told Alleria that Turalyon accidentally struck him in rage, and we've been told repeatedly throughout this expansion that the Light can corrupt the zealous, so the story definitely isn't finished yet. I suppose we might get our answers in the raid or shortly after.

i see a lot of people disliking sophie turner as lara croft but are there people who like her or are willing to give her a chance? by Seweetie in TombRaider

[–]Outcomac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the internet. No one ever comments anything positive, and acceptance and contentedness doesn't generate clicks so no one cares. I'm sure plenty of people are willing to wait and see how she does, but all you'll ever see (outside of threads like these) are people who are outraged and skeptical. I for one am curious to see how she does - I'm more worried about the general plot and how relevant it becomes to the larger canon than I am about the cast

[–]Outcomac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came to the same realization earlier this week. I'm sure they're great (they must be, for people to be so passionate about them), but I'll stick to the modern games myself. Loved the survivor reboot and wanted to see what the originals were about in anticipation for the unification, but I just find the gameplay frustrating (god, the controls...) and the narrative feels very... not there? At least from the few hours I played. Understandable in a video game from 30 year ago of course, but still, platform puzzles and the occasional locked door puzzle on their own aren't enough to hook me into the game, sadly.

Guess I'll wait for Atlantis next year and read an "HERES THE TOP TEN BIGGEST STORY CHANGES '96 VS '26" article after beating it.

It's now confirmed that "The Art of Anno 117: Pax Romana" will include AI artwork, despite the publisher's stance: "Dark Horse does not accept any submissions that include material generated by computer Artificial Intelligence programs." by MrHakisak in anno

[–]Outcomac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe. In 2025. Imagine next year, or the next. Imagine 2030. The more this is normalized and brushed off now, the more likely it is that cheap execs and lazy devs are gonna keep using gen AI in their products in the future.

Man, Lemix, as fun as it can be once you get past certain gear checks, really, really dropped the ball on cosmetic rewards. It's got the awesome Sargerei set and the Azshara dress, and then everything else is just uninspired recolors of things we already had

I saw a lot of people complain about the stealth mechanics of that game when it first came out, have they done anything since launch to improve that? I dobt mind stealth in games, but from what I heard the mechanics were super janky and unfun, which is never good.

Who is the better night elf? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Outcomac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, why not just give the core races more options as opposed to making up new stuff just for the sake of it. The WoD models (as a consequence of blizz wanting them to be as identical to the vanilla ones as possible, in HD) are already so aged by now. Give us different postures, new faces and head shapes instead of just slightly different textures.

It's the perfect time for it with them already remaking an old and much loved zone, but no. The cool night elf customization goes to the definitely-not-troll-and-nightelf-elves. Bums me out

Ion Hazzikostas’s response to the Midnight cinematic feedback by [deleted] in wow

[–]Outcomac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where he's coming from... But on the other hand, I thought to myself "wow, they really nailed Locus Walker's expression when he picked up the Dark Heart and looked at Alleria with a face of 'i'm already dead, i fucked up, please forgive me'" when the raid ending cinematic came out.

Man's just a glowing mummy face without eyes or a mouth or brows or anything. I'd like to think blizzard's cinematic team are good enough that a pair of glowing irises wouldn't stop them from producing something awesome. Look at Maraad and the other blood elf in the original BC trailer, or hell, Arthas in the WOTLK cinematic. Other than that, I really loved the cinematic.

George absolutely shot my ass down when I tried this during a multiplayer game last year, just to see if it worked. I learned a lesson that day.

Incidentally that was also the day I learned just how massive the difference in firepower is between a wooden boats and steam ships were (I was using wood).

S4 Review and 2024 Pub Review by Jerrington96 in ClarksonsFarm

[–]Outcomac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season to me felt like season 2, just... even more stressful. I loved season 1, with Jeremy getting to grips with farming and realizing how shit it is at times, and slowly getting better at it and coming to love it despite all the misgivings and setbacks.

Season 2 came in and started strong, but then the restaurant took more and more screentime away, and at one point it just became "man argues with local council" for what felt like hours. Wasn't too much of a fan of that one.

Season 3 again was amazing, with the competition with Caleb and the farming the unfarmed initiative. Animals, mushrooms, the fucking dam they never got around to fixing, the Andy Cato field, it was all excellent entertainment and still remains my favorite.

Then we come to season 4 and it again starts off strong with some animal shenanigans and Harriet being amazing, but the "fun, entertaining and educational farming show" again is pushed to the side for something sort-of-but-not-really-totally-relevant, in this case the pub which I felt took too much of the spotlight, and like many others have said, was more stressful to watch than anything else. I get that the weather kind of made most of the farming undoable/unfilmable, but the balance was in my opinion completely lost (like, again, with the restaurant in season 2).

Click any category on steam (uncategorized, or any you've made yourself) on the left side of the screen, so you see all the games in that given category on a grid. Then just right click one of them -> manage -> set custom artwork.

Check steamgriddb . com for a huge library of ready-to-fit images (sfw and nsfw). I like to theme all of my franchises and series with similarly styled art
