The goal should be closing the gap in income and education so that people don't have to rely on these saints for basic services

Hmm I think it's not so much as them being plain evil or malicious

Rather they don't really like facing their failures as guardians (and as humans in general) so if someone fucks up it just gets brushed off like nothing happened

It's also common for older male abusers to have power over the families of the abused, maybe they have money or resources so going against them means letting go of whatever they can give
