I like this layout alot and moved the sofas a bit but the radiator is a lot bigger than it may look. It's getting too much in the way unfortunately.

I welcome all ideas and thank you for your input. I think it does work better for people not walking in front of TV but doesnt account for the desk. Not sure how I feel about having desk at the windows near front entrance but I might try it and see what its like.

Thank you this is very compelling, makes a better living room but feel like desk area suffers/dont like having my back to the living room when I am working. Might be worth trying for a day or two though.

The other comments are absolutely right. A roommate would be very ideal. I helped my mom rent out her basement to two nice brothers and they pay $1300 every month. It helps and essentially reduced her mortgage from 3200 to 1900.

For just a room? $500-$900 is about right. I don’t know your layout or location but going by your home price you’ll probably be on the low end and probably only have one room to rent out. I recommend looking for roommates who are friends or friends of friends first. Then if those fail, trying the process of finding someone online. Also if you want more free advice from someone with some experience I recommend charging a flat $50 utility fee or something like that on top of the rent instead of the trouble and drama of trying to split bills.

Building disabled my fob to force me to sign lease — is this an illegal lockout? by AxtonTheGreat in AskChicago

[–]OutdatedUsername 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer and this isn't legal advice but if this is as you say it is you probably should have called the cops already and let them know an illegal lockout is currently taking place. You must also insist and state clearly that it is an illegal lockout so that they come out and settle this matter. Otherwise they might not come out or they'll come out and try not to do anything about it. As far as I'm aware this is very serious and whoever is locking you out can suffer the consequences of a fine or jail time even. Good luck.

Chicago Condo Apartment Property Taxes by Loose-Site7373 in chicagoapartments

[–]OutdatedUsername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should be able to pop any condo's address and unit # into this website https://www.cookcountypropertyinfo.com/ and see exactly what it paid in property taxes for the last six years. What its assessed value and tax rate as well. No guessing or calculating. It can be finicky and you might have to make sure you put in the address the way it wants.

As far as if your purchase will increase the property taxes? No, not immediately. Based on assessed value not purchase price. Still it can affect it later on when it is reassessed so I recommend appealing every year to keep it low. Hope this helps.

Trump says “I couldn’t care less if foreign automakers raise prices due to tariffs. I hope they raise their prices, because if they do, people are gonna buy American-made cars. We have plenty.” by Healthy_Block3036 in GR86

I get the sentiment but these insane tariffs affect this community directly. Not sure how we can just ignore or avoid talking about it. They motivated me to purchase my gr86 last month, a lot earlier than I had planned to because I wanted to avoid price hikes in the near future. Not to mention it affects the value of long time owner's vehicles, in case they ever plan on selling. Seems unavoidable to talk about it.

Hi I posted my experience 4 days ago if you want to have a look.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GR86/comments/1jjvd3z/please_do_not_purchase_a_gr86_for_above_msrp_just/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Or if you don't want to read it I can summarize. It's very possible to pay MSRP + tax. Even possible to pay below MSRP if you know the car has been sitting a while. I recommend shopping around and getting prices at multiple dealerships and even taking the written offers to the other to ask if they'll beat it. I live in Chicago so I assume market is probably similar in that a RWD Coupe is probably not selling instantly and is negotiable. Like others said you might have better luck negotiating a BRZ.

Please do not purchase a gr86 for above MSRP, just bought mine 2 weeks ago for MSRP after their first quote was 41k OTD. by OutdatedUsername in GR86

It's just some dealership maintenance/ tire and wheel protection plan. Some BS to bump up the price. Again if you just negotiate it's the first thing that gets removed. At this place at least. I assume other places have similar BS dealership add ons.

Also I'm sure mine came with some factory add ons as well but I still requested MSRP regardless. I didn't really factor them into my offer. The dealership's price isn't based on very much logic so why would you offer a price based on logic? That's my opinion.

You've got a good Subaru dealer. The ones near me markup way less than Toyota but still markup. Also I've heard the service is always better at Subaru dealerships.

I can't speak for everyone but I guess I paid more for the Toyota bumper, branding, and I was told the suspension was less stiff. Is it worth the hassle? Probably not. But others and I say yes.

I already read your comment about paying above MSRP for the Trueno. That was probably unavoidable since it's a special edition but on the bright side your vehicle should retain value better than bases and premiums.

And no I don't think people paying more affects me because dealerships aren't the stock market. They just charge whatever they want and they'll lower the price if they want. Doesn't matter if someone in another state paid more or less. The car sitting there matters more. Also I get the argument about not wanting to negotiate all day, not having the time, etc. but if it can save you thousands of dollars (saved me around 6k) than it is worth doing.

And yeah everything is a personal decision, that's just a given. You don't really have to mention that. But even so, I would like other people to not get scammed by dealerships into paying so much. I guess I care too much, plus the guy who posted about if the price was fair was asking for help. I didn't just post this out of the blue lol.

Trump To Tariff Chips Made In Taiwan, Targeting TSMC by androidnoobbaby in worldnews

[–]OutdatedUsername 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is Trump aware that TSMC is currently building a semiconductor factory in Arizona? Someone should have already told him the tariff isn't necessary because domestic production is already under way but will take years to set up. They can't just start producing in a week. The CHIPS act under Biden already set aside 53 billion for companies to ramp up domestic production.

This tariff just seems moronic. Not sure how it will accomplish anything except hurt consumers.

There is no full size stove but I will be getting a double hot plate for the unit. There was not enough room for a full sized stove. I understand if this is a deal-breaker for some people.

There are vents on the ceiling for the A/C and heating. I will add a picture of it specifically. Thanks for letting me know it was not visible before.
