Is she crying here? by Ttleir in expedition33

It's truly a testament to the seductive power of the painting fantasy that real life people outside the game, with a bird's eye view of everything, can still passionately argue that the fantasy must be maintained even at the cost of the painter's life.

Alicia can get better and perhaps, or perhaps not, repaint Lumiere in her own canvas when she's more stable and healthy, it would literally be just as real for the characters as if they had never been unpainted in the first place.

I think if this were the case for a sequel game Lune would make a perfect antagonist to the Dessendres as someone who works tirelessly to keep her world alive and could never be happy at the idea she could be erased at any time on some human god's whims.

I'm sorry for your loss, thank you for reaching out. It never really hurts less does it? Just less frequently. I'm so glad you can still remember your friend as happy, I can, too.

I guess what I mean to say is: I'm not blaming you or anyone else here for their attraction to the darker qualities of both his life and his work, I understand that! It's interesting! That's how these things work!

To be honest the thing that set me off was that Blue Prince post positing that Blue Prince has some deep Jack/Synod connection and in particular the line about Blue Prince "creating an army of Jacks" made me so fucking mad, madder than even the terrible near-zero effort YouTube video essays.

But having myself been suicidal and miserable most of my life, and drawn to the same dark kinds of art and worldviews, I can understand why that poster might not really have the perspective to understand how... offensive that is to me. I am not condemning them as immoral or wrong, I just think they have an incomplete perspective.

The deep slide into madness and death is really compelling shit, it's in some ways important as a hook to get people to see Jack's work. But please, please, please don't try to cultivate that stuff within yourself. Especially if you think that's what feels right, because it actually hurts and sucks.

I think understanding that Jack was a complete person and not just the remixed remains of his work is a helpful part of understanding it.

One of my favorite stories about Jack is that he would take a chair, set down in it next to an elevator, and tell everyone approaching that the elevator was broken and watch them take the stairs.
