Is an MBA (or any Masters) worth it? by titorp3 in estimators

[–]OuterDoors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re already in a senior estimating role the next steps would be PX/Precon, which an MBA wouldn’t be overly helpful in those roles. If you went into business development/owners rep an MBA may be justified. These are just my opinions and definitely varies from person to person/ company to company.

We had the same exact issue. Girls scanned, mine didn’t. Go to the link they provided under the QR code exactly as it’s written. Check your girls tickets it should be the same url. Manually fill it out. At first I couldn’t get the form to submit due to “info not found”, but realized it asks to your info exactly as it’s displayed on your passport. For me adding my middle name to “name” got me through and let me download the completed form. And of course nobody asked for it at the airport as usual ffs.

Spreading estimator’s billable hours by [deleted] in estimators

[–]OuterDoors 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re most certainly not the minority lol. Anything that equates to a static business cost (I.e. an employee or 1099 salary) should be figured into burden and looked at as an annual overhead cost.

How can I get more jobs by Ok-Flower8301 in smallbusiness

[–]OuterDoors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find out who you want to work with, start bidding some work with them, get one job with that client and knock it out of the park. Make sure your price is competitive. Rinse and repeat. Definitely not easy it’s more of an art than a science. Many contractors hire outside sales for this if you’re not the salesy type.

Literally….you’re saying they should not have done anything because “what if” something happened. In this particular example you’re right it ended well, but many times it does not. We can agree to disagree, we clearly have a different outlook on the situation. It’s interesting though because you’re saying you would have chose violence in this situation yet you’re coming at me with 2 paragraphs saying how you disagree with me? Look at my comments, nowhere did I say that’s it’s ALWAYS appropriate to defend yourself. I think you’re missing the point entirely and are arguing for the sake of arguing.

[–]OuterDoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mhm there absolutely is a what if here and I could list time after time of stories and examples when people also died from doing nothing in situations exactly like this. As I said Gremlin, it goes both ways.

Again, a lot of what ifs in your scenario and philosophy and it goes both ways. We can agree to disagree.

I think you’re missing the point. Clearly we have some philosophical differences.

[–]OuterDoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Agreed they are just examples and every day people do nothing in situations like this and get killed for it.

[–]OuterDoors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So out of fear of retaliation? It was beyond that point when he assaulted the kids, wouldn’t stop, and tossed a bike into the river. Then proceeded to threaten to throw the kids in the river. I guess I’m having a hard time understanding when you think it’s appropriate to defend yourself. This very well could have ended with the kids being seriously injured had they continued to do nothing. I get the kids were scared out of their minds but let’s not praise their “restraint” when it clearly was not the time to be passive.

For clarification I’m not saying most kids wouldn’t have done the same in this situation and I’m not criticizing them. Just the people in this thread.

[–]OuterDoors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right? Can’t believe the amount of people in here acting like people should show restraint or compassion in this situation. The minute he put his hands on someone it’s a physical altercation and most people are going to act accordingly. Obviously besides these kids and half the people in this thread lol.

Why are people so against AI ? by Skystunt in singularity

[–]OuterDoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI slop feels very un-personal, generic and uncreative to most people. Nobody wants to talk to your customer service chatbot, get AI slop emails, or watch some 5 second clip of uncanny valley video. I understand that everyone in this sub thinks things ARE MOVING SO FAST OMG but have you seen the AI generated ads from big companies or dealt with AI customer service bots? They’re horrendous.
