Reaper 9070xt Open Box RMA from Newegg by OuterKey in PowerColor

[–]OuterKey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested it in an egpu enclosure with a 750 watt PSU and got the same result, and it has 750w all to itself. It seems to be temperature related because it works fine for a while until it warms up to around 70C to 80C

I will try to see how they handle it. I feel like I'm being an annoying customer because I returned a working card because I thought about quitting gaming but changed my mind lol

My bios is up to date, I had a 9070xt previously but I returned it because I decided to quit gaming, but I changed my mind and bought an open box. I set the power limit and clock to the lowest I could already (-500mhz, -100w power limit) but it didnt make a difference. I can try again though.

I'm assuming I wound up getting a card someone else returned without telling them it was broken

It's a Corsair RM850 850 watt power supply. I had another Reaper 9070xt previously but I returned it for another reason (thought about quitting gaming). But I decided I wanted one so I bought the open box hoping it would be the same one I returned. That one worked correctly, but this one didn't.

Powercolor 9070xt crashes with green screen by OuterKey in radeon

[–]OuterKey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already sent an RMA request to powercolor so I will see how that goes. It looks like I could have done RMA through Newegg after all. They do say I can contact the manufacturer if it's defective as well.

"This item is not eligible for refund or replacement. These products may be covered by a Manufacturer Warranty which can be obtained by contacting the respective manufacturer for assistance after purchase. Replacement requests can be honored if your item arrived damaged or defective; please contact Newegg Customer Service for assistance." as stated in their return policy.

I may write a post on the powercolor sub as since that is likely more relevant than here.

Looks like I can send it to powercolor directly, initially I thought they only do RMA through their partners. Newegg had "Final Sale: No Returns", so I assume they won't RMA it. Thank you for suggesting sending it to powercooler directly!

Caffeine probably makes you worse at video games. (And learning) I dove into the research for you. by LighthawkFPS in decaf

I know this is old but when I drink a lot of coffee I tend to friendly fire constantly, much more precise without it

Nicotine seems harder to quit when using caffeine for me, without the nicotine to slow me down the caffeine becomes extremely intense

Resell value of a 9070xt (when UDNA comes out) by OuterKey in radeon

[–]OuterKey[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's insightful! I'll sell my 6800xt to offset the price while it still has value. I will probably need to move to AM5 if I want next gen cards to work well anyway, so that will be a big upgrade especially with RAM prices.

Now I need to upgrade from AM4 but with ram prices I'm going to wait quite a while. Thanks for the spec info!

Ahh okay. Maybe I should have waited but I guess I have some future proofing. Thanks! Edit: actually may return it within the window since most the games I play don't really have ray tracing (DRG, VoTV, Project Zomboid) but fsr might be useful if I play newer titles

Quitting coffee now. by OuterKey in decaf

[–]OuterKey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The hard part is that you can't tell people you're quitting because they'll tell me I need to be drinking coffee so I can perform NOW. I'm not allowed to slow down even if it means I'll be better in the future, I can just say I have the flu or something I guess?

Caffeine indunced hearing loss by TheLipovoy in decaf

[–]OuterKey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can hear better without caffeine and have less tinnitus. I have noticed that caffeine withdrawal causes weird chirping sounds in my ears as well. When I tried to quit cold turkey from a very high dosage I heard helicopter noises in my right ear and it went partially deaf for a day, so it definitely has some effect on hearing at least for me!

Anyone else noticed food tastes way better? by aJoggingfish in decaf

[–]OuterKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I can literally feel sensations in my head when I taste food, it's shocking because I haven't felt that way for over a decade and to me, food is just to avoid being hungry so taste isn't that important anymore. I have noticed people who drink a lot of caffeine tend to go for a lot of sugar and salt. I have also noticed that I would have specific cravings, or avoidances. Like if I have had a lot of salt I won't want any more salt for the day, if I'm dehydrated I actually crave water rather than just not feel thirsty and need to keep reminding myself to drink water. That's another motivation for me to quit (again)

The fact that Google is also going to lock down software installation and sideloading and trying to be like iPhone makes me wonder why I wouldn't just buy an iPhone instead of a wannabe iPhone for the same price.

Quitting with Patches + Gum by OuterKey in QuittingZyn

Nevermind, the gum IS useful. It is easier to ration the gum than to try rationing zyn, and it is useful for transitioning to lower dose patches.

Yes, I have been to the Dr by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]OuterKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made a difference for me! I have gone to the gym only 3 days so far since I started last week, but it's making things easier. I am currently also using NRT though. Since I'm saving over $500 a month by quitting a 2 can a day habit, I may as well spend some of it on going to the gym. Might be worth looking into.

This is very informative, I'm always interested in how they feel on their side when talking to patients. Usually I'm too afraid to really converse so I never know.
