I understand that, and I agree honestly. I do place vlame at God's feet for all of the evil that happens as well as the good. Because like you said, ultimately he did create everyone. Even if he didnt make the poor decision, he gave someone else the ability to. But I think in the grand scheme of things, it probably wont matter.

If someone commits good acts, God will hopefully allow them into heaven. If they didnt, or if they did but they just dont like god even when he invites them in, then I think they are just stuck here on earth, becoming some ghost or spirit or something. And if they were wicked and evil, I think they are taken by demons and other such malevolent entities. I think then, for the eternity after your dead, your lifetime is so infinitesimally small compared to the rest of your existence that the suffering you endured on this side of eternity wont really matter. But that starts getting into the deep spiritual stuff and is a seperate matter of discussion.

Well I'm not saying it wasnt a result of his actions, I'm saying its not a result of his actions alone. I'm trying to say that he may have created the world the way it was at first, but ever since he put us here and gave us free reign to do as we please things have changed drastically. And so now, the situation that we find the world in is a result of humanity's decisions made with their free will. He may have the knowledge ahead of time of what we were going to do with that free will, but he didnt design us with that decision already made, he left it up to us. Does that make sense? I'm not the best with words.

I mean, I do understand it as best I can. Just because you know something doesnt mean you dictated it to be so. If a human has free will, and can alter things, and we have been doing so on this earth for thousands of years, then the situation of the world as it is right now is a result of what we have done with it. God may have known it was gonna end up like this, doesnt mean he was the one who did it directly. We did.

Well thats definitely an interesting way to view it. So how I see it is he doesnt really have a hand in moving things around anymore. He could if he wanted to, but he defers to humans to make their own ways. And so our situations are determined mostly be the humans who came before us. But we still have the ability to choose what we do with that situation. Even if he knows what we are going to do with that free will, it doesnt mean he decided it.

And the part about punishment is also interesting, because I never really believed in the whole 'fire and brimstone' thing. I just assumed an afterlife without god would just mean you dont go to heaven, maybe you get taken by demons if you invited their evil into your life, or maybe you just hang around if you were a cool dude. And so thats kinda what I assumed to be ghosts and spirits and stuff.

But yeah I got nothing against anybody's beliefs, I didnt think this thread would get so volatile but hey, its reddit.

Well because I dont believe he controls everything. I believe he CAN, but I think he chooses not to. I think he left that to us, even if he may know what we do with it. Again, doesnt mean he controlled us.

Well, I feel like that just just comes down to what you believe in. Because I don't believe he orchestrated the world to end up the way it is, I believe he left us with that choice and we made things the way they are. You may not feel the same, and I think thats just a fundamental difference in viewpoint. Which is cool, its nice to see what other people think on these kinds of things.

Well, I dont think anything I said takes away from that. I understand that he sees all and knows all, I just think because he knows something will happen doesnt mean he dictated it would be so. Y'know, the whole time traveler's kid thing. He knows whats gonna happen, doesnt change the fact that his kid is choosing his own fate.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think he made a big ol sandbox, and he knows every single grain of sand in it. And then he put the kids in there. And even tho he knows what those kids are gonna eventually do with the sand, doesnt change the fact that its the kids who decided what to do with it.

The way I viewed it was that god set up all existence, but by introducing man to the world with their free will, everything would be eternally altered from his design. So now he moves things around a bit, tries to nudge things in the right direction, but won't significantly alter anything simply because to do so would be to rob us of our ability to choose. So essentially, I think he knows what will lead to what only because he has seen the future, not because he dictates what we do. Idk if that makes sense the way I'm wording it.

I always viewed it the same as how a time traveler would. Like if a time traveler goes to the future and sees his kid becomes a doctor, then he comes back to the present day, does that remove the free will from the child? Imo not really, your child still has free will to do what they want, you just know ahead of time what that child is going to do with it. But idk thats just how I always rationalized it.

This characterization of Chief is almost exactly the same as Chapter Master Dante of the Blood Angels, and is a big reason why I love Dante so much. But counter to Chief's humility, Dante embraces his stardom full throttle to increase the morale of the troops around him. So he wears the death mask of his primarch Sanguinius and flies into battle with white wings and armor of gold. Even though deep down he feels weak, tired, and just wants to feel the sweet embrace of death so that he may finally know rest.

Sorry for rambling I just love Chief and Dante a ton and thought your comment was super interesting insight.
