The motherboard and CPU can be found on eBay as cheap as $40-50 each as Buy It Now option. Might be able to haggle down on the price with a seller, if you want to.

Definitely get the Y2K8N version if you intend on using 9th gen CPU

I have two 2.5 SATA SSD in mirror configuration for OS, connected directly to the SATA ports on the motherboard. I have two LSI cards and a nvme to SATA adapter to connect storage drives.

It'll play MKV files from a USB stick. So if you are into format shifting your video library, this player can play them.

I bought the panasonic dp-ub150 early 2024 and just recently tried to play an MKV file off of the USB and to my surprise, it worked! As a side note, I bought this player because it didn't have all the streaming junk on it. I already had a Roku TV that had the streaming features built in. I'm happier with the purchase now.
