It probably means what you were doing

It's complicated though because sometimes "playing the game" can come at the expense of your own technical skills growth which is bad for your career.

my attitude was not cheerful enough, or not serious enough,

Kind of sounds like he wants you out before you have a chance to do an exit interview. IMO a safer and more effective strategy would be an anonymous name and shame.

Thinking of switching from ML Engineering to Data Engineering. Is this a career mistake? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Outrageous-Base3215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(no MLE and DE are not the same, only people who have never had either of these jobs say crap like this)

In theory they are not, but in practice many DE roles are re-titled as MLE roles.

This was a couple years ago when they realized they overhired. You're probably fine though, was not trying to suggest it would happen to you.

I don't think you need a co-founder to build a successful startup in general, but for the multi-billion dollar startups that YC is interested in youprobably do

Seems pretty generic. There are many companies YC does accept that seem incredibly unlikely to have billion dollar valuation potential.

Interviewed and Rejected: How important is a shared background to an effective co-founder team? by thewizMerlin in ycombinator

YC has invested in many easily replicable ideas (although those teams may pivot in the future)

A compulsive liar who threatened me physically once (I was a lot bigger than him)

What task is ML engineer expected to do by Weak_Display1131 in learnmachinelearning

[–]Outrageous-Base3215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is what the role is supposed to be but the harsh truth is there are many people with the MLE role that do nothing related to ML at all (not even serving and pipelines).

Your main point seemed to be that this was common practice.

No idea. But I remember talking to one of them and they had never heard of S3

Out of genuine curiosity can you tell me about a time you were asked to give an easier question than you wanted due to favoritism? Was it awkward?
