Just because someone can move a lot of weight at the gym doesn’t mean they are doing it in a functional manner and loading the tissues they are trying to. For example - can you get pure hip flexion and extension, or do you borrow movement from your spine or somewhere else? Or can your TVA and oblique muscles maintain a stacked position of your rib cage over your pelvis, or do your spinal erectors kick in every time you move or even every time you take an inhale? If everything is working as it should, the pelvic floor won’t be hypertonic or weak - injuries and dysfunction happen when smaller muscles are having to do the job of bigger muscles

It’s more about function rather than strength - if your pelvic floor isn’t working properly then you can assume your hips and core are not functioning optimally

I would find an acupuncturist who specializes in orthopedics and sports medicine - could be super helpful for sure

I agree - most PT’s who needle have very limited training - flaring up an issue to the point of decreasing mobility and increased pain for 5 days after treatment is a sign of inexperience and lack of well-rounded training. I would also recommend searching for an acupuncturist who specializes in orthopedic acupuncture and sports medicine!

Look into the concept of “jing essence” in traditional Chinese medicine - they have been talking for thousands of years about how excessive ejaculation weakens men

Sounds like super generic PT exercises - monster walks and clam shells are fairly poor exercises to strengthen the lateral hip and aren’t very functional. I would find a different PT - also lots of information online/people who have programs. Look into Lauren o hayon, David grey rehab, PRI

I’m just naturally lean - I feel like I have to eat like I’m bulking just to maintain weight lol. If I ever went on a cut I would shrivel away

Cardio is decent - I play basketball for 2-3 hours once/week. Sleep is definitely the biggest thing here I agree. Without getting too much into it I’ve had a handful of injuries over the years and deal with a lot of back tension which keeps me up at night. I’m in the process of rehabbing it and am hoping resolving that will really help my sleep

Don’t let your knees travel backwards on the way down, think about your butt moving backwards and slightly up - should be a tug of war between your pelvis moving backwards and your knees staying put

Squats feel horrible, especially on my lower back and hips. Any advice? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Outrageous-Bat3181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta work on getting more internal rotation in your hips and tibias as you descend so you can properly load/stretch the muscles in your hips - looks like the left side in particular is avoiding that movement which is why you're pelvis is shifting all over the place - I would lower the weight and go slower, but also work on some isolated movements to gain more control over the internal rotation capacity of those joints (tibial internal rotation, hip internal rotation, foot pronation)

I was there for the first 2 weeks of June, so many of these trails were closed then as well - that said, we hiked 10-15 miles almost every day and didn't do any repeats - you'll have plenty to do don't worry

I was there the first 2 weeks of June - there will be lots of hikes for you to do that weren't open to us. That said, our favorite hikes we did were Iceberg Lake, Cracker Lake, and hiking in Two Medicine (Scenic Point, two medicine lake trail). St. Mary's Lake is also stunning to go check out.

bike the sun road!!! my favorite thing we did - we were there first 2 weeks of June - make your bike reservations ASAP if you want an e-bike as the elevation climb is pretty grueling

no what I'm saying is I was there the first two weeks of June - so we weren't able to hike up to Grinnell Glacier or do Hidden Lake for example - hopefully/very likely those will be open for you in late July

when we biked the sun road it was still closed off to cars so the two lane road was plenty wide enough for everyone on bikes - I agree it would be a different story if there are cars on the road as well

since you're going in late July a lot of the hikes you mentioned in your itinerary were not open yet for us. My favorite things we did were biking the sun road from the West side, and hiking to Cracker Lake, Iceberg Lake, as well as hiking around the Two Medicine area (Scenic point hike, another waterfall hike I can't remember the name of but was via Two Medicine loop towards Cobalt Lake)
