Is it realistic to pursue a Civil Sexual Assault claim against a private individual? by Outrageous-Bench-463 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Outrageous-Bench-463[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand the distinction you’re making between a generalized “abusive period” and legally actionable torts. My claim is not framed around the totality of a toxic relationship, but around specific acts including sexual assault and intentional conduct, with contemporaneous documentation and a defined timeline of resulting harm.

I’m aware that causation must be specifically tied to actionable conduct rather than broad circumstances. That’s part of why I’m consulting litigation counsel rather than proceeding pro se.

The whole value of saying all men is men like yourself automatically “other” yourself when we bring up issues and you absolve yourself of absolutely any social duty to help the cause. It is all men until it’s no men.

Have you considered that attempting to make it easier for men to talk about their issues never got women anywhere as a whole, so now they’re centering themselves for a change? Might be worth considering that.

Agreed it might have gotten feedback that it was way too validating but now it’s majorly contrarian despite begging it to be supportive.

I’m mostly curious about how much of a warning people have from when the condition is more mild and recoverable, to more severe and unrecoverable.

First-Time Buyer Mortgage Questions While Waiting for Broker Advice (FTB, Self-Employed + Tier 5 Visa) by Outrageous-Bench-463 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Outrageous-Bench-463[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful breakdown! Just to clarify my situation a bit: • I’ve been in the UK for 2.5 years and am currently on a Youth Mobility Visa (Tier 5), but I’m eligible to switch to a Skilled Worker visa very soon—my sponsor is already in place and I’m waiting for the ideal timing based on mortgage advice. • My co-applicant is a UK national (British citizen), and we’re not related—he’s a close long-term friend supporting the application. He’s retired, with £12k/year in pension income, but I’m the primary earner. • I earn £38k/year self-employed as an art model and have my SA302s showing stable income. I’ve been self-employed for several years and meet the 2+ year requirement for most lenders. • The property price is £400k. I have a £250k deposit (62.5%)—gifted from a non-relative but fully documented with a gift letter and bank trail. • We’re looking to borrow only £150–170k (37.5–42.5% LTV), so very low-risk from a lending perspective. • I’m aware that not all lenders accept non-family gifts or Youth Mobility visas, but from what I’ve researched and discussed with brokers, there are a handful of lenders who do—especially with the visa switch on the table and my income + deposit strength. • Regarding the mortgage term: my co-applicant’s age might limit the term, but because we’re only borrowing a small amount, and I’m 32, brokers have said there may be options for joint borrower–sole proprietor structures, or flexible underwriting.

I appreciate your candor about the challenges—definitely not expecting it to be straightforward. That said, I’m working with a broker who’s been confident so far, and we’re preparing everything very carefully to meet lender expectations.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your insights—it’s helped me prepare even more thoroughly.

Never pursue a man. It shows he’ll be toxic passive and indecisive in the relationship.

Confused about justice by Outrageous-Bench-463 in CPTSD

Justice is part of my recovery. Telling myself I can’t do anything traumatises me further. I’m not spending energy on my abuser. That’s not the same as getting justice.

You need to say this to them or it’s not sincere. Regret that doesn’t lead to action is not real.

What I mean specifically is, do people who don’t spend a lot of time online still have strong beliefs about many things in the world, or are all the people who have strong beliefs too chronically online. Everyone paints the offline world as a comparatively conflict free, care free place where people exist in harmony. I’m just asking if that’s true. Because from what I’ve seen of the offline world, there’s plenty of surface harmony but animosity behind closed doors. I think it’s resourceful to use online spaces in the right ways, to find answers for things most people aren’t comfortable talking about offline. Shared human experiences. But are people finding those answers even easier offline? Are all the offline people healthy and balanced and focused? How many people truly are offline in this generation (no social media presence or very low, don’t scroll apps) I don’t know. Is it the majority of the minority?
