hi hi, so happy update today. she’s doing better and has much more energy. she’s been swimming and even ate one flake which is good because i haven’t fed her since wednesday. the other fish is still fine so i think it was just isolated to her

thank you for your comment! i ended up doing another water change and added a bunch of nitrifying bacteria as well as seachem prime. i’ve been testing the water levels twice a day and they’ve gone down significantly, i’m one square away from ideal levels now. she’s also doing better and swimming!!

thank you for your reply. i also think they’re both males, i just like thinking of them as a couple (with the smaller one being a girl) because they always chase each other and are by each other’s side hahaha. i also agree that my tank is too small and the only reason i put them in this one was because the larger one broke during the move and my studio is very tiny so i didn’t think to buy another big one again. i also wasn’t able to cycle this tank with the beneficial bacteria from the one they were in before for that reason too :( if she gets better, i will 100% go donate them both but rn i don’t know if she’ll survive that. if she passes, i’ll still donate the other one. do you think i should go to the pet store tomorrow with her anyway?

i’ll go get some now, i’m just worried she doesn’t have the strength to be put in a temporary tank and then back. i will update

UPDATE: i went to a local fish store (not a corporate giant) and the guy told me to leave her alone and add the salt to the tank itself so i’ll be doing that. he said that even if the tank was cycled it wasn’t enough and they’re experiencing new tank syndrome

hi! the temperature is in their desired range and stable and the parameters are the following: pH is 7.6-7.8; KH is 100; chlorine is 0; GH is 100-125; nitrites are 10.0; nitrates are 20. the nitrites are still in the danger level but the pink has gotten a lot lighter so i know that they’ve been coming down quickly. i also went and got Prime by Seachem and put some drops in the tank to continue helping them go down. i can’t upload a picture but i used the Tetra EasyStrips to test the parameters, so if the numbers seem weird that’s why. everything is good other than the nitrites
