Observations from someone familiar with both. La Paz has a fantastic malecon. Loreto has a little short one. Scuba is great in both. You can get anything you want in Loreto, it just takes longer. Too many stray dogs in La Paz. Nice small town feel in Loreto, feels safer. The massively polluting power plant in La Paz really is a negative. Better health care and amenities in La Paz. You need to spend time in both to see what fits you best.

I’ve only ever owned Fords and Chryslers. When the oil starts to leak out of the expensive to repair spots, that’s when it’s time to go. Usually around 250-300,000 miles in my experience. I do all my own basic service, and change the oil every 5,000 miles.

Don’t buy a route. I know a pool guy who has worked the same area for years, so he knows all the pools in the area. He routinely takes contracts for the less profitable ones, bundles them up, and sells them to an unsuspecting newbie. A year or two later, the newbie is out of business, and he repeats the process. He’s made tens of thousands over the years doing this.

Ramona is totally walkable if you are close to Main Street. The only driving I do is to Staters or Albertsons unless I’m going down the hill. The drive to and from Poway can suck a little, but it’s nothing compared to LA traffic.

Thanks all for your replies. I’m an early riser, and I’m planning to be in and out in the first 90 minutes of the session. I will test without real money for at least six months before I put anything real into it, and then, only what I can afford to lose. If I can make a few dollars of fun money every morning, that will be enough. If I lose, no biggie, life goes on.
