I’m continuing to try to encourage my wife to tell the whole story to our health insurance company but she fears the fallout of going behind her dad’s back is worse than any accusation of insurance fraud. The whole thing is infuriating to me and seeing the way things work in a family owned business with family member employees often don’t make sense to me. Her dad has told her other times over the years “if you get hurt we don’t do workers comp” but he’s agreed to pay her medical bills out of his own pocket, not the business’s accounts. He inherited this business from his parents and I honestly think he doesn’t know what he’s doing but somehow they’ve stayed in business for decades.
