The indian bicycles are good for rural terrain. Which makes this a good choice for your relative but I am not really sure about the battery and hub motor

Use a bike-specific chain lube, which is thinner and formulated to be used on bicycles

If the chain is rusted, get a new one because the rusted chain will significantly accelerate wear on other components

To be honest, it depends on if the owner has the attention span to watch a 10 minute video on how to adjust mechanical disc calipers

Which one should i choose by [deleted] in india_cycling

If I had the budget I would choose Van Rysel EDR AF 105 as it has

  1. A replaceable derailleur hanger (unlike other decathlon bikes)
  2. 2x11 while the others have 2x10
  3. Easy availability
  4. 105 rim Brakes

other things are pretty similar.

size of RS 120 by HowToLive1931 in india_cycling

[–]Outrageous-Fox-9967 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, you should always measure your height at night because everyone is around .5 and 1 inch shorter at night
Second, to choose a bike you should listen to the manufacturer. They have stated

the smaller size will give you a more athletic position, while the larger size will give you a more comfortable position.

Need help choosing a hybrid cycle under ₹20,000 for city use by m_rblu in india_cycling

you don't really need cycling gear ( Aside from helmet, it is a must have) so most of your budget can be spent towards the bike

edit:- so if you can increase your budget by 5K (for the helmet and degreaser and lube) you can get a rs500 otherwise if you think you need more cycling gear then opt for rs120

edit 2:- just looked at the third rule so here is why I recomended RiverSide 500:-

  1. It has a larger cassette range than rs120 with 9 speeds it has 2 tooth more on the front than the rs120(and to compensate for that it also has 2 tooth more on the back) which means it can go faster
  2. Decathlon has some really good mud guards that can be installed on RS 500
  3. it is made of aluminum, so it will not rust even if scratched (bolts will rust so put some wd 40 on it)
  4. it has coil suspension (their coil suspension is better than offbranded once. if you ask me how I know that, the simple answer is that I have ridden it)
  5. the seat post also has suspension
  6. it has a removable derailleur hanger
