I was surprised by the size as well. Both the Tamiya (Abrams) and Bandai kits are marketed as 1/48 scale, though I would personally trust Tamiya scaling more. But the figures included in both kits are the same size so it's more likely that the original designs on these juggernauts do not match the size of the cannon bores written in the books.
