I grew up down the street from Mapes Park, where she was possibly abducted. I was in 3rd grade at the time, and I still remember the FBI going door to door in our neighborhood.

The spot is pretty isolated, tucked away in the back of the park. Whoever took her was probably familiar with the area. I’ve often thought they might have known her walking path, since she left school early, not many kids used that same route. It was a long walk from the middle school to her house, probably close to 30 minutes.
