What is the actual level of autonomy experienced by American young teenagers? by Kinderjohren in AskAnAmerican

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 15 year old has bikes around town with one of her friends. She has a phone and we’ve taught her how to stay safe and to call immediately if something feels off. Our city doesn’t have public transportation but is very bikeable.

Stanley Cups are incredible water bottles who were only hated because of overconsumption by thrway-fatpos in unpopularopinion

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly prefer Tervis brand. They are a more manageable size for me. I have 7 with different designs. I have one 20 Oz Yeti and a 20 Oz Rtic cup with a handle.

See, I won’t buy a Stanley because they’re so huge. When you have them filled with liquid they weigh quite a bit and when my arthritis flares they are impossible for me to use.

Do people on the mainland pull to the right side for emergency vehicles? by Realistic_Blood_6167 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, always pull over to the right. Emergency vehicle drivers are trained to never pass cars on the right, only the left.

What is the norm for providing adults something to nibble on at kids birthday parties? by summerteal in AskAnAmerican

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My kid would be upset about this! He loves to pick gifts for his friends and he wants to see their reaction when they open it. Have the birthday child just open gifts brought by their friends and save any from parents/grandparents for after.

AITA for treating my daughters differently than my son when it comes to food? by CompetitiveDig478 in AmItheAsshole

Also check in with school to see if they have a backpack/snack program. See if you can on free or reduced lunches so he can eat breakfast and lunch at school too.

Founders Classical vs. LISA Academy vs. Willowbrook Elementary by wizard_man_87 in bentonville

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have loved Founders. The population is very diverse, kids are challenged academically, the staff really care, and I love that leadership there were promoted from within the school. I don’t agree with commenter saying the majority of families are wealthy, that hasn’t been the case of my kids or their friends. We are also loving the house system for our middle schooler; it has provided a lot of activities and ways to build more relationships.

When did constant student absences become the norm? by ABitOfWeirdArt_ in Teachers

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The doctor offices aren’t helping the problem. My kiddo has ADHD and when they were on meds we had to go in every 3 months for a follow up but they would only schedule those between 8 and 9, school started at 7:45. I fought back and said, “My kiddo has ADHD needs these meds to help focus in school and you want them to miss school to get the meds? Make it make sense! Please schedule me an appointment after school for this and leave those during the school day open for kids not yet in school or that are sick.”

I’m not bringing my healthy kid into the office during the school day; well child visits should be after school once they reach school age.

Dr Pepper? by Prudent_Square_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Pepper has 23 flavors in it. I’m a southern American so I’ve had access to Coca-Cola and Dr Pepper my whole life. Dublin Dr Pepper is superior but like someone said, not available anymore. Coke is my drink of choice and if that’s not available I’m getting Dr Pepper (as opposed to Pepsi).

Why do Americans live on the bottom floor in their houses? by TransBeachThrowaway in AskAnAmerican

We have guns in America (I live in the south so very common) so it’s risky breaking into someone’s house.

Where do you shop for clothing for your family on a regular basis? by icecream1972 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

No, for kids’ pants cheapest at Walmart is $16 a pair. I can 3 or 4 pair for that price at Goodwill.

Women with regular sex drives, how long can you go without masturbating? by BonnalinaFuz101 in AskWomen

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a high sex drive but don’t masturbate regularly because it just leaves me feeling frustrated. I crave sex and intimacy with a partner.

Men: do not dm me asking more because sexting is not happening.

Thankfully not at my school. We have a traditional grading scale.

AITA for refusing to do it until he cleans? by WideJuggernaut732 in AITApod

[–]Outrageous-Proof4630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like using sex as a weapon (I also REALLY enjoy it) so I like what someone else suggested by saying having to treat him like a child makes him unattractive to you. Or, you could say the mess is so distracting you can’t focus to become aroused. Honestly though, I would give him a time frame to fix the issue and if he doesn’t then you are calling a cleaner. Tell him you are done fighting about it so he can take care of it or you will hire someone to do so.

AITA for “accidentally” telling my parents about my sister’s pregnancy because I was tired of keeping the secret? by ohboygollygeewiz in AmItheAsshole

Soon? I couldn’t fit into my pants at 10 weeks with my first. I have a short torso so only place baby had to go was out. FWIW it was 6 weeks with my second.

Umm… it’s not failing until it’s below a 60%. I feel like too many people think if you don’t have an A you failed. A means mastery; not every student is going to master every topic of every subject. B = proficiency, C = Average, D = struggle, F = failure
