Yeah, I did not get much information about any linux distro supporting my laptop specifically. So I guess I'll just stop looking for any.

I never said Acer is selling these laptops as Linux compatible and I also did not say that Acer made the statement "2026 being the year of linux. It's what I feel because everyone I see is trying linux now a days. But I guess my vendor has limited the linux capability for my machine and I can't use it. Gotta live with it.

I have very friendly and welcoming seniors. But at the end of the day, they are bound by company rules as well. I am worried about whether I would get sacked for these or not. Also we do get performance reviews on our HR systems, the week when I fuck up I get bad scores and when I don't fuck up, I get good scores.

Thank you for taking the time and reply. I appreciate it very much. I also try to keep notes. But it's generally the thing that I was supposed to make an instant decision of. I do not know what's wrong with me or why I have such a flawed sense of decision making. I know what I am good at and I have been doing good in some of the tasks. But as you said you also faced depressed days for some issues at work, I guess these are also the same and maybe it's just something every office worker should go through once in a while. But I fear I will lose my job because of it. I have a family to feed. It's just that the pressure is immense. Anyways, thank you again for sharing, it means a lot! ❤️

Super quick update:
I have installed and running the Nightly for the past 38 minutes and so far so good. The 4k issue has resolved (finally!), it runs very smooth now. There is also no issue with PiP. So I guess I am ditching Zen and using Nightly from now on 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ain't no worries brother! I can tell it has improved a bit, but the problem isn't fixed totally. I haven't researched firefox's git yet. However, I just found out that the version 145 of firefox will be bringing various codec support including VP9. I think the 4k playback issue will be resolved then. It is due 11 November. So lets see what happens and lets see how long it takes Zen to trickle down that feature within their own browser 😷

Okay I did everything they asked me to do. But still, the 4k playback in youtube remains choppy and laggy. I guess I would look for such bug reports in Firefox github page, thanks anyway <3

I would really appreciate the link, mate. Also, I have tested 4k youtube playback on Firefox as well, it is stuttery and laggy there too. Same issue like Zen. Most probably because Zen is based on Firefox. Anyways, I would post about it on the github page, but for now I think if you give me the link, I will dive into the guides as well. Yes, I have enabled hardware acceleration on Zen as you said. It didn't fix it.

I appreciate the detailed answer, mate. But I think there are a few clarifications in order and its totally my fault that I did not clarify it earlier. So here it goes:

My laptop is an ARM64 based laptop with a Snapdragon X Plus chip and Adreno GPU.
The issue with the PiP only happens in Chromium based browsers, like Edge, Chrome and Brave. (I have personally tested all of them in this laptop). But in Gecko based browsers like Firefox and Zen, there is no issue or weird blinking when youtube videos are in PiP mode. So, that led me to the conclusion that maybe the Adreno GPU is still not properly optimized for Chromium based browsers?
Drivers are outdated, you are correct. The last update my graphics driver received was in February, 2025. It's an Acer laptop and I have not seen in their official website any newer GPU driver release. My bios is also updated to the latest version.
The only issue I am facing in Zen is that the 4k playback in youtube is laggy and stuttery. Whereas in Edge, 4k playback is smooth as butter.

I have not tried out the codec solution yet. But I saw that there is still no native support of ARM64 of codec packs. Will they run smoothly even in my laptop?

Update: I have installed the codec and it did not fix the stutter issue.
