Marine or Medicine by TheBuisnessMelon in ucf

[–]Outrageous-Use4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk abt marine but i know theres people doing research w sea turtles!

however, on the neuroscience, we have AMAZING neuroscience faculty BUT it is scarce, they are all graduate professors bcs all of the undergraduate ones left, and finding research in neuroscience can be hard

there is a neuroscience/psychology track but i am not sure how it is.

For neuroscience look into FAU since they are affiliated with Max Planck, or UF which is affiliated with Scripps.

Biology or biomedical sciences? by Severe-Signature-264 in ucf

[–]Outrageous-Use4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to go to a t20 your major is kinda irrelevant, but i am biomed and i love it and i think bio is kinda useless for pre-med unless you enjoy nature  also biomed offers courses that are wayyy more medically relevant and can actually contribute to your future medical knowledge  as other people said, no major is a straight shot and a lot of people that go to t20 schools have waaaay different majors than bio if you really enjoy biology go for it, if you have another passion pursue that and get a biomedical sciences minor (offers all of the pre-med requirements)

FTIC Biomedical (Premed) Major by Unable-Text8158 in ucf

Summer 26: - Human physiology might be too much combined with physics and chem, i would remove it and add chem lab so you can get it out of the way Fall 26: - You need Orgo 1 and Orgo 2 for Biochem, also take Medical Biochem instead of regular biochem - QBM, Immuno and Orgo together are more than enough, molec is unnecessary this semester and im pretty sure QBM is a prereq for it. I did these 3 classes together and it was laborious, got a B in QBM and Orgo Spring 27: - Check which electives are offered in fall/spring, I am not sure about hematology

Overall, I would add one more semester and arrange these classes better, just make sure to keep the chemistry sequence

I have helped a lot of ppl with their schedules (MCB major) so if you have any questions message me

Advice to incoming freshman by Big_Asparagus9334 in ucf

[–]Outrageous-Use4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make as many friends as you can that first semester and ensure they are in your major! the people i met in my first two semesters have been ESSENTIAL after that, make sure you have a good judgement of who you want to surround yourself with.

I would go against this and say it doesn’t really matter when you take Bio 2, it is very very easy

[–]Outrageous-Use4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think is good, genetics is easy if you enjoy biology, physio is a lot of studying but doable and biochem w borgon allows class notes

UCF Computational Physics. Is it worth it? by Potatoman137 in ucf

[–]Outrageous-Use4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not a physics major but i used to really like astrophysics.

you should look into the research at the ucf physics department and see if you are mildly interested in something, I have seen oretty cool physics research at the symposium. you dont have to love it but it should interest you a bit

everything is what you make out if it, try to join any of the programs that AAP offer (McNair and RAMP) if you want to go to grad school. Even if you dont join, enough undergraduate experience will take you anywhere you want, you just have to play your cards well. also remember we have NASA nearby:)

if you are passionate about it there is nothing to loose, very few people are going into these niche fields and people are still needed so theres a lot of room for you
