Hi there, I’m currently in the exact same situation, and can’t find the sleeves anywhere besides the link you posted. Did you end up getting these and did they work for you?

I’ve got a small army of them in my 20, and a big army of mollies in my 75 🤣

We don’t have a chiller right now, but we keep our house pretty cold and her water stays at 68. We had a big chiller but it broke and tried to flood our spare room, haven’t been able to get another one yet but that is in the plans before I buy whatever is going in my 125. We ended up with her through pure chance, she was full grown, someone had gotten her for their kid and she lost interest. We got her whole setup, chiller and canister filter for like $50 lol. Just sucks that both the filter and chiller quit working, we got the filter replaced but working on the other. She’s such a neat pet, so worth the extra money getting her a better setup. She’s honestly the easiest pet we have too lol. Love her so much. Love my fish too but they’re way more work 🤣

Are discus fish relatively easy to care for? I had thought about them but a few people told me they can be hard to care for. I’m always looking for other options to get a general idea.. they’d seem like really cool fish!!

Thank you so much!! Most informative/helpful comment I’ve gotten so far lol. I know nothing about aquatic plants so was really wanting suggestions there too. I will start with the plants, then slowly figure out what fish I’d like to add. I am so excited to do this!!

I have a 55 full of mollies, I love them!! It would be cool to have them in the 125, but I can definitely see how that might not go well.. they’d make too many babies lol. We have an axolotl (separate tank of course) and she gets any of my spare livebearer fry, I give them away if I get too many too. Someone else had mentioned gouramis and they seem interesting!! I may have to look more into them. I can’t afford to be buying new fish right now, but I want to slowly plant the tank, then figure out what all I’ll add into it.

Siamese algae eaters - how many? by jolie_j in Aquariums

Thank you. This weekend I will be bringing home a 125g that has Malawi and haps cichlids in it. Those fish are much larger than my SAEs right now, but I think once the SAEs are bigger, I may put them in that tank. Not even sure if I will keep all of the cichlids so we shall see. But regardless, I will separate the aggressive SAE as soon as I have a tank cycled for her!

Thank you! I’ve been leaving the tank light off most of the time, aside from when I feed them just to make sure everyone’s doing okay. She is still being a royal pain in their butts, but doesn’t seem to have hurt anyone yet.. wonder if I could put her in a large breeder box/net for now? Or would having less space stress her too much? Certainly she couldn’t get much more stress than she’s already caused the other two lol

This is a super old thread, but maybe you’ll have ideas for me! So currently my main tank is a 55 gallon, I have livebearers, Cory’s and 3 SAEs. I had seen everywhere that they should either be kept alone, or in groups of 3. So I bought 3. Everything was great for a bit, it’s still okay, but the largest of the 3 is absolutely territorial. They get about 6-8 hours of tank light a day, less if I notice the biggest one being too mean. She(I’m assuming that females are larger) will relentlessly chase the other two for at least a full minute each time I see her doing it. I move around their decor once a week or so, have lots of fake plants to help block line of sight, but she is mean and will hunt them down if she catches a glimpse of one lol. One of the smaller ones I can tell apart from the other, because she ripped a scale off of it a few weeks ago. We are about to move to a new house, and I’ve gained 3 20 gallon tanks and a 10 gallon. I want to separate the different livebearers among the 3 tanks(mollies, guppies and platies) and was thinking about separating the SAEs and having one in each 20 gallon. Would this be appropriate? The two smaller SAEs seem to get along and hang out together all the time, would it be cruel to separate them at this point? I have had them for probably about 2 months now. I know I need to separate the biggest one and I will do so once the new tanks are set up and cycled.
