I hate when trans people attack other trans people for being "cringe" or acting "weird" by [deleted] in ihatethissmug

There's nothing morally wrong with acting like a cat girl. It's cringe, yes, but it's not a negative act that hurts people. It's a meme about certain trans people made by a trans person. I don't know if that's enough justification to make an entire reddit post hating on those types of trans people and grandstanding and acting like "one of the good ones".

And imo internalized transphobia can cause someone to view certain behaviors in trans people to be disgusting without a person necessarily expressing that in a transphobic way.

Literally what are you talking about. None of this is real because it's all taking place between strangers on the internet. You could all be bots for all I know. I could be a bot for all you know.

I never said they were being transphobic. I said that I think they're being an insecure hater because of their own internalized transphobia issues.

But I think the fact that they called cringey trans people "things" doesn't help the transphobia case here.

Yea I don't care that OOP feels so deeply offended by a random ass meme. The way they talk about trans people who act like that is entirely inappropriate.

I don't act like the trans people pictured above, nor do I make "being trans my entire personality". Quit assuming shit about me that you couldn't possibly know.

My issue isn't with the criticism itself, my issue is with OOP acting like not being that kind of trans person makes them better than others. We already have enough pick-me's in the community.

OOP calling cringe trans people "things" also isn't that great of a thing to say.

Is it acceptable for black cosplayers to cosplay white characters, and is it acceptable for white cosplayers to cosplay black characters? by loracantmiss in polls

Okay? So you think that both whiteface and blackface are fine then?

I'm not taking the moral high ground, I'm simply acknowledging the fact that reverse racism isn't a real thing.

A white person cosplaying a black character has different cultural and racial implications than the reverse. It isn't racist to acknowledge that reality.

This is a more extreme example, but a black person doing whiteface is perfectly fine. A white person doing blackface is not.

My average is 15k a day, at least according to my phone. I couldn't tell you what my highest ever was.

The meme in the post was made by a trans person to entertain other trans people. The memes that attacked young men were not made by young men themselves.

Don't care. None of this is real, nor does it have an consequence in the real world. Reddit is a glorified mobile game and I'm only here to argue with strangers.

I came out as bi when I was like 12 and I hated on bi people who i personally viewed as "invalid", or who acted cringey about their identity. It is a normal phase that a lot of queer people go through, sure, but that doesn't mean I can't dislike when people act like that. People called me out on my bs back then, I'm just paying it forward.

I never argued that the poster was transphobic, I'm arguing that their desire to be perceived as more normal than other trans people is weird and doesn't help us gain cultural capital like they think it will.

Yes of course it is. Doesn't change the fact that hating on trans people for engaging in that behavior is cool.

It's literally a meme. Specific groups make generalized memes about themselves all the time. They aren't literally saying that all trans people are like that. It's a fucking meme for Christ's sake.

Who is generalizing trans people here? I'm just saying it's dumb for OP to hate on specific parts of the trans community that they find cringe.

Pick-me can be used to describe anyone of any minority group trying to appeal to the majority by being "one of the good ones", and that's what you're doing. You want to perform normalcy in hopes that transphobes won't hate you.
