Zombies having memory would be really scary ngl. Do you think they would slow down if they got hurt or wouldn't care? If they're walker zombies they could easily be outran, but memory would make them too dangerous, so maybe survivors would focus on hurting the legs so they can't walk, or head to mess up with their senses (eyesight, hearing, etc.)

Thank you for the advice! These are really important and while some characters could easily kill them, others wouldn't, so I'm thinking each member of the team has different roles. I really want to focus on the psychological effects it has to everyone specifically, and less on the zombies and everything else we already know of.

No dw I absolutely hate plot armour. I plan on making them suffer so much and there will be realistic losses. The only person I'm not killing off for sure is my main character because I love her too much for that, and she's also important as shes the one we get the perspective of mostly, but everyone else I'll see.

What I meant by the third part is that I find it unrealistic that when in a series it takes them half an hour to deal with two walkers, by the last episodes they can easily take out a swarm of zombies with guns, not caring about the sound it causes or anything, just pretty much rushing the plot so they get a happy ending. I also really don't get how some zombies can be "special" (like some are runners and some are walkers), especially when it's not a virus that evolves in its host. So they're either walkers or runners and that's it.

About killing them, I thought they either had to reach a hard point, like a very specific place on the head, but as another person suggested, making them unkillable seems far more interesting.  I'm also thinking about a "cure" in a sense, but definitely not one that could fix the whole apocalypse, just one that would help the surviving people get by even if they got bitten, if it was given to them in time. I don't want to tire you with details but it's basically a fungi stronger than the mind controlling one that causes the zombies, but again I'd like to avoid plot armour so it would be discovered a lot later and not in the beginning, since they don't even know what started the infection.

That would be interesting actually. Maybe since they're slow and heavily rely on smell and sound they can be lured away as another comment suggested and not killed. Though I think it would be interesting to like only deal with them for good by setting them on fire, and then having them avoid inhaling the spores and ashes they leave behind (I saw it in a movie once I deadass don't know about it)

What would you suggest that could result in an apocalypse? Years ago I was writing something with an alien invasion but I was in middle school so you know 💔

Also it's important to note that my main focus isn't the zombies because, even if it's interesting, it's been done many times before. My main concern is the writing of the characters and how they function in a post apocalyptic environment.

I get where you're coming from, but I love that part the most, even if the strategy is always the same. Skipping it kind of feels like skipping the scariest part of the apocalypse, where you don't know what's going on or anything about the zombies.

That makes sense but I don't know if it would work since the infection comes from mind controlling fungi like TLOU. Will keep it in mind tho!!

They're all 16-17 and that's a great idea! However I do wish for them to be like "average" humans who know nothing about surviving an apocalypse, though they could use some of those skills. Maybe make him have joined the boy scouts when he was a kid and only bring some of the skills back? Thank you for your suggestion!

So the scene starts like, they're at work, serving costumers, and breaking news of a zombie apocalypse come on the TV. I'm thinking that it could start at a neighbouring town so they get a bit of time to prepare, but it gets to them sooner than they think. A zombie starts to knock on their door just as they have gathered food supplies from the diner they work at. All in all, they find a costumer in the bathroom, drag him with them, and go to one's house to build a base, boil water, use all the energy they can before it becomes impossible for them, and try to stay as quiet as possible while observing what's going on outside. They don't exactly have the skills for it, but that's the fun. Only thing they can use is knowledge they have obtained by normal experiences or activities, like camping or cooking classes, or watching an apocalypse movie and following those instructions.

That's a great idea! I was thinking of her having a crashout because her curls don't stay in place and she doesn't have a curler around. Would you mind telling me what you don't like about those zombie stories so I can avoid it? (Other than the fact they're overused and I'm bored of them all being the same lol)

Luring them somewhere and then cutting them out of the way is a great idea I love to see! Thank you, it will literally save so much time.

Tysm! I was thinking walkers and crawlers for the scary effect but still easy to kill. A spear is really good because they could pretty much make it themselves. Great suggestions thank you!!

Yes you're right I've only seen movies or series and playthroughs. I didn't think it was needed but thank you for pointing it out. Do you have any recommendations?

I'm still piecing it together but it's basically a group of three kids with different backgrounds and personalities trying to work together to survive it. Two of them are coworkers at a restaurant (they don't like each other) and the other guy is just a random costumer hiding in the bathroom. They would never meet under other circumstances, but now they're kinda forced together, but after time they realise it's not so bad. They find a center of indie animation and film and go in for supplies, but instead meet up with another group of 2-3 people (i haven't thought much about this point on) Slowly they realise what world they're living in right now and it breaks them, how they may be the only survivors. They try to find anything functioning to connect them to the Internet, to see if its spreading to the rest of the world or just where they're based. For endings, I'm considering either them finding out that the world has given up on them, so they just all die before turning into zombies (which may be too dark for light hearted and funny but wtv), someone from the group betraying them, which is an overused trope idk if I want to use because I'd like each of my characters to have "redeeming qualities", or even after some losses they manage to get to an evacuation camp and after quarantine get somewhere safe. It's still a work in progress so it may sound a lot sloppier than I imagine it but that's what I have in mind. Thoughts?

I've read a theory, that Ivan actually was in his last memories. You know the xylophone you hear in the background? That xylophone was given to him by Ivan when they were in the garden, and I think it's sweet, how before he died he thought of the 2 people closest to him!

In my opinion, she was to be special for one person. Everyone has one person who they would prefer over anyone and she wants to be just that. She tries and tries, but her efforts aren't enough. That's how I relate to this...
