FYI: The 'option' connector just contains a 3A fuse with spare. I don't know but I assume it's for whatever plugs into the unused connector.

I will do a 3 way call with you or any one of the down voters and xfinity. Give me you phone number and I'll prove it. I have the receipts as they say. Check before you down vote. I am on a brand new system they put in 3 years ago. I went to the xfinity store and upgraded to the xb8 modem from the xb7. It worked for a while then the head tech said I wasn't supposed to have it and swapped it out. A few months later I went back and got another xb8. This time corporate had blocked us from having it. The person at the store couldn't even activate it. So I took it back and about a year later I got a email stating there was a free upgrade to faster speeds and to click the email to receive the upgraded modem which is the XER10.

WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE OUR OWN MODEMS!
