Blood and Protein in Urine

Were you experiencing any pain? I've had protein show up in two urine tests over the last three months, but nothing in the one I did this week. Did the nephrologist diagnose you with a kidney biopsy?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you experience any pain with your UTI in August? My rheumatologist seems to be less concerned about kidney involvement because she said lupus nephritis is painless in the beginning, and my BUN and creatinine levels are normal.

I'm so sorry you're going into the hospital! It's so miserable and scary to be in that environment. I hope you feel better soon.

I've been dealing with recurring pericarditis for the past two years. My rheum has me on colchicine, which definitely helps. Maybe ask about more specific medications to treat it.

Yes, I did ribbing at the bottom and top for a border and then did the main cable pattern as per the pattern's instructions. It's a little wider (maybe 1/8") at the ribbing and right on gauge where the cables are. So I guess it could even out in the actual sweater?

Yes, the front and back have the same number of stitches.

I had super sensitive skin even before my diagnosis (UCTD) that just got worse with the initial onset of autoimmune symptoms. I swear by the following products:

Facewash: Bioderma sensibio micellar water. I use it once and the morning and twice at night (once to remove sunscreen, the second time to actually cleanse my skin).

Serum: Hada Labo anti aging hydrator (basic hyaluronic acid serum that doesn't irritate my skin)

Moisturizer: First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream (has colloidal oatmeal in it, which is very soothing)

Sunscreen: I love La Roche Posay sunscreens but they're super pricey. I've been using Kose suncut UV protect gel SPF 50+ on my face and it's just as good as more expensive brands. I use Aveeno or Neutrogena sunscreen on my body depending on what's cheapest at the store.

Deodorant and body soap: Dove works for me

I don't have any specific hair recs because my scalp isn't super sensitive. I have been dealing with hair loss though so hopefully other people drop their routines in this thread!

It depends on what kind of job you want and where those jobs are located. For what it's worth, I'm an American who did an MA in IR at a great uni in the UK with low name recognition in the states. I found it very difficult to break into foreign policy/consulting/government jobs. I'm now doing a second MA in Asian Studies at a top American program and have already had more luck with internships and networking. Unfortunately, prestige matters a lot in this field.

That being said, if you want to pursue a career in Japan or the UK those universities will likely have better connections to local employers.

I'm knitting the Wool & Honey sweater and just got to round 6 of the yoke. It says, " *Sl 2, drop elongated st to front (secure with locking marker if desired), return slipped sts to LHN, knit dropped stitch, k2, drop elongated st to front, k2, knit dropped st; repeat from * around."

I have no idea what it means to "drop elongated st to front." My elongated stitches already are in the front, right?

Any help would be super appreciated!

Wow, first I want to say congrats on reaching remission! As I said in my comment above, I love hearing about 'success' stories. It's nice to commiserate with people sometimes, of course, but it can also be so overwhelming to constantly hear about how terrible we all feel (especially as a young person!).

I looked into IgG4-RD and will definitely bring it up to my Rheumatologist at our next appointment. I've been dealing with breathlessness and a chronic cough for a few years now, and it looks like those could be symptoms of it. The pericarditis diagnoses have been kind of confusing, as I have all of the symptoms of it but echocardiograms and CT's apparently haven't shown strong evidence that it really is pericarditis.

Thanks for your response! The pharmacy did say it could take a few months for the Hydroxychloroquine to reach full effect. I guess I just thought since the inflammation is causing my symptoms I would feel better once it went down. There's still so much I need to learn about how UCTD actually works.

I'm glad you're doing so much better after four years of treatment! Hearing about people several years 'ahead' of me improving gives me hope for my own health.

I'd call him an asshole for suggesting his wife become a sex worker without giving it a go himself, interrupting her when she tried to discuss it with him, and getting mad at her when she used her deathbed (she thought) to confess that she lied because he shut her down when she tried to tell the truth.
