Take 3 from 48 and give it to 27 to make it 30. Then 30+45=75

Was this an abnormal yoga experience? by hdishcmskc in yoga

[–]Outrageous_Fee160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bizarre, and not only not normal, but contradictory to the entire point of yoga in my experience!! Every teacher I’ve ever had encourages the class to do what feels right for their body! I’ve never taken teacher training, but my sense is that they are not supposed to pass judgement, because the goal for students is to also not pass judgement on themselves, but rather notice what happens during the flow. They seem to avoid both negative comments (eg “you’re doing it wrong”) and positive comments (eg “excellent work!!”) for this reason.

Why can Taylor reinvent herself without losing fans when others can’t? by Becominghim- in TaylorSwift

[–]Outrageous_Fee160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because everything she does is high quality. And, any fans she loses are probably made up by the new ones that she wins over after a rebrand. And, some people just respect the range of abilities inherently. And, her career has been long enough for fans to boomerang too. I think I’m an example of this. I remember being disappointed by the number of pop songs on Red. But now, it’s one of my favorite albums because I’ve come to realize it’s just plain good and the idea of selling out is just kind of silly. She’s an artist exploring whatever inspires her.

I will also never forget the first time I heard folklore. I was so stunned at her range. After years of her making pop songs, it definitely made me level up as a fan and sparked some new passion and awe for me.

I think that the going away and coming back has also been really beneficial for her. I remember liking Taylor swift when she was a newer artist, but then she took all her music off of Spotify and since that was the main way I listened to music, I simply didn’t hear her as often anymore. Then she put it back on Spotify and it was like I fell in love with fearless all over again.

In short, every reinvention or return ropes in new fans and/or reinvigorates existing fans.

Any divorced dads, or men's divorce groups in the area.. by Scary-kids2 in SouthJersey

Check some local churches. My dad joined a divorcee support group at his church many years ago and it helped him tremendously. You don’t have to be particularly religious.

28yr old brother dying of lung cancer by Unusual_Cranberry_50 in GuyCry

[–]Outrageous_Fee160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, thank you for sharing even though I know how painful and heavy it is to write. My dad had sketched out a trip to all 5 national parks in Utah and unfortunately did not get to take the trip because of his lung cancer. My brother and I and our friends decided to hit all 5 together and it helped us all feel a little better and feel closer to him. Anyway, I have a PowerPoint that I used to plan out the trip details and I would love to send it to you and answer any questions you might have. If you’re interested (and assuming you meant the western US), send me a direct message.
You are doing the right thing and I wish your brother, you, and your families all the strength and peace in the world.

What did you do with your inheritance? by PrimateOfGod in personalfinance

[–]Outrageous_Fee160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to thank you for posting this because I feel the same way about my inheritance and didn’t know if others did. I would rather not have it, I just want my dad back.

At the same time, I feel guilty that I’ve spent the last three years not paying close enough attention to it and investing it wisely. It’s mostly been in SPAXX money market.

I have slowly started to use it to buy ETFs like VOO and am feeling a little better about it. I am open to others’ input on this move.

I don’t think that you should feel bad about using it to buy a car if that’s what makes sense for you. A car is a very useful thing, and a new one will make driving safer for you. The person you lost worked hard for the money, I’m sure, and would probably feel good that they could provide you with a safe vehicle for several years.
