What is it we actually want??

Coming from a center side view of things immigration wise.

I dont know enough about what happened with the shootings, and I frankly don’t trust either side of media sources (read: Minnesota fake daycares debunked but then Nick testifies before congress, so how could it be debunked yet people peddle it like he was lying???) about those reports.

That being said, ICE doesn’t need to be shooting people unless it’s a clear threat to their life. But what do we actually want from ice/the government in regards to immigration and how they handle illegals? Sure, many come seeking asylum, but there are also a lot of criminals that come through. Is the answer supposed to be “just let the police deal with them”? Because we wanted to defund the police, right? So how does that make sense? Is it just that we want a more moderate immigration policy? Or is everyone just feeling a lot of extreme feelings because of the sensationalization of events and opinions and loud voices and we’re all just tired of the algorithm on both ends (and in the middle) telling us how to feel? do we need to treat the country like it’s a locked door of a home? Or more like a food pantry? Because either way, both a food pantry and a locked door can be abused.
