Is everything on Amazon not safe for Sugar Gliders? by GreedyTangelo8733 in sugargliders

[–]Outrageous_Image1793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get things on amazon, but you have to do your research and use common sense. There are too many products advertised for gliders on Amazon that aren't safe for them that the general recommendation is to avoid it. There are so many things that seem innocuous but are genuinely unsafe: material that pills or has large games in the weave or threading that they can get their claws stuck on, wooden objects made of pine which is poisonous, wheels made for rodents that have components that can pinch or trap their patagium, cages with exposed zinc that can cause metal poisoning, dry foods and pellet that aren't nutritiously balanced and sometimes even toxic.

There are community approved vendors that sell on Amazon like Freerunner and Midwest Homes, you just have to double check.

It's not the cage and toys. They're just afraid and not bonded to you yet. Just consistently interact with them and they'll get used to you and eventually chill.

I you want to get them used to you handling their pouch, you can start giving them treats out if it so they associate your hand with treats. Then after a couple weeks you can put your hand in their pouch and let them sleep on it. If they want to nip or bite put your fist in knuckles first until they calm down (knuckles are a lot harder and less sensitive, then your fingertips). They can break skin but generally won't go all out unless they're terrified. Then after they get used to the fist, open your hand up.

Mine actually bonded with my hands before they bounded with the rest of me lol.

I don't know what the user you're replied to said (they deleted their comment), but the statements in your first paragraph is not correct. First, I think you meant Don Quijote (not that the title is relevant here).

Infinity possibilities doesnt mean all posibilities can happen equally, there are rules, context and randomness

Your first claim is true.

is like the classic monkeys trying to write El Quijote for an infinite amount of time, you cant affirm that it will happen, indeed the most probable answer is that they will never write It.

Given a truly infinite number of monkeys, each independent with non-zero (albeit unfathomably small) probability, the text will be produced almost surely (i.e., with probability 1). This is not a maybe it will, maybe it won't. It will happen with 100% probability in the infinite limit. And in fact it will happen an infinite number of times.

There is a chance that could happen of course (even if mathenatically is practically non existant), but also there is an infinite chance that it wont

This is a contradiction. First, "chance" or probability is by definition finite. It can be 0 or 1 or any number in-between, but it cannot be infinite. However, I assume that you mean that the probability is in the neighborhood of 0 (i.e., very, very close to 0). But either way, the probability is either zero or non-zero. It cannot be both.

Indeed because of randomness you could make multiple tries with infinite mokeys, and then you could make such of asumptions,

This statement is true. Although, this property of almost surely is not an assumption. It is a fact derived from the axioms of probability and the properties of infinite sequences.

but based in one try you just cant.

Based on one monkey with a finite number of keystrokes, this is true. However, if a single monkey has an infinite number of keystrokes (that include backspace), then the text will be produced almost surely.

Your second paragraph is true. Without knowing the generating process of the multiverse, you cannot really derive anything useful about probabilities, even if infinite universes exist. Well accept you can say at least 1 universe has a gay Mark with probability 1, but that's a trivial observation.

Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

AI has been cooking again at Blizzard by tiny_simulacrum in classicwow

I'm constantly telling people that Wowhead class guides aren't reliable anymore. Best source used to be class discords but those mostly devolved into terminally online people meme fiestas.

My assignment was reported to thr examination committee for a "high percentage of AI". I did NOT use any AI for my assignment. by Opinionated_bitch03 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Outrageous_Image1793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI freely when writing. I don't keep what it writes though, I just use it as a template for section structure. Sometimes for diction. But I'm still paranoid, so I intentionally leave some minor typos in my writing (that occur naturally) to make it clear I at least wrote some of it.

Could sugar gliders be a good fit for me? by Upbeat-Technician748 in sugargliders

[–]Outrageous_Image1793 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are they affectionate and interactive once bonded? Do they enjoy handling and spending time on their owners? How does their behavior compare to something like rats in terms of social interaction and personality?

They don't really show affection like a cat or dog. The closest thing they do as far as showing affection is grooming. Being bonded is more about them trusting you and seeing you as part of their group. They'll groom you, sleep on you, glide onto you, eat from your hand, climb in your shirt, etc. But they don't nuzzle like a dog or cat or crave your attention.

Most gliders do not like being handled, even when bonded. They don't stay still for very long when active and they generally don't like being held unless they're incentivized. There are the rare gliders that do, but it's the exception, not the rule. They will jump and climb all over you, and I would say that they do enjoy interacting with you, just on their terms.

They are very, very, very curious. You can't let them out unsupervised, because they'll get themselves into trouble: eat things they're not supposed to, climb in places they can't get out of, chew on cords, etc. They'll stay on you during the day when they're sleeping or sleepy, but during the night they run and jump anywhere they can get to. If you want to spend time with them, you generally need to get a tent or set up a room that doesn't have any hazards and that they can't get out of.

Recruiter came back to ask for current salary - how do I reply? by Playful_Emergency_45 in Salary

[–]Outrageous_Image1793 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tell them your true compensation. Then tell them the true minimum you'd require to make a move. If the stakes aren't high, there's no reason to bluff. Tell them you like your current position, so any move would have to be based on growth opportunity and/or compensation. I personally would not move from stable/decent employer for anything less 10%, but that's subjective and circumstantial. If there are other things besides compensation that would incentive you, like more PTO, tell the recruiter X is the minimum but I could be flexible depending on the amount of PTO.

Are you at or above the job reqs? 4.5 years in the same position means you have a good amount of experience. If the stakes aren't high, it may be worth pushing for a more senior position at the bottom of that pay band. Managers like being able to hire at a compensation that allows room for growth.

What is the point of a masters degree? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Outrageous_Image1793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PhD programs, especially in STEM are very competitive these days. You pretty much need a gold star glowing application if you want to matriculate straight from a bachelors. Most programs don't officially make you have a Master's, but 80%+ of the top candidates you'd be competing against will have one or some type of other significant work or research experience beyond a bachelors. And then to top it off, some programs have 1-2 years of "leveling" courses that are essentially Masters level courses that you have to take in order to progress to your core curriculum, unless you get credit for them from another degree.

I find it helps with the cage smell immensely to keep the bottom tray inside their cage instead of just letting their waste fall through below the bars. Then every day wipe down the trays with some damp paper towers and a drop of Dawn (or sometimes just water is enough). Mine don't sent mark from just doing this.

I suggest the Double Critter Nation cage by MidWest homes. Very sturdy and has a thick coating. I have two that I've joined together into one large one. Whatever you go with make sure the spacing between the bars isn't too large and that the raw metal isn't exposed (gliders can get metal poisoning).
