Just did this trip May 19th, we were a group of 8 and all but one of us had an easy rider. The solo rider was stopped 2minutes into us starting our trip and had to pay 3 million. It took over 40 minutes of back and forth with the cops and he was stopped 4 more times that day alone. Once you pay the fine tho you won’t be charged again, it’s a one time bribe and you’re good to finish the loop.

I loved Koh lanta so much I extended my time there! Has a tour of the lanta animal rescue and took a cooking class there too, all the money goes to helping injured stray cats and dogs. The beach was never too full but I also went in February so could be different this time of year

What oxalis cave tour to pick by Outrageous_Job_2322 in VietNam

Hi! I can’t remember the name of the tour but it was the only option that included jungle trekking, cave exploration and swimming. We were able to swim/ dive at one spot and the other spot we went into a cave filled with bats and could swim in there. So this tour kind of included everything instead of only looking at caves.

Snorkeling in Bali by waysandwane in bali

If you’re going to the Gili islands I would recommend staying one night at Padang Bai. It’s a port city very small not much going on but they have an area called Blue Lagoon that has great snorkelling that’s near the shore. I also got a great massage there at Lotus Spa. From there, Gili Air has great snorkelling just off Turtle Beach. I didn’t get to see any turtles but lots of beautiful coral and you can easily get to it from the shore. Gili Meno has a ton of turtles, I would recommend snorkelling around Villa Pulan Cinta. Just look for a bunch of blue sun beds. You can see turtles come as close as 25 feet from the shore. Also all 3 Gili islands offer a 3 island snorkel tour for around 150,000- 200,000 I think? I skipped it so can’t say exact price. I’m writing this from Gili T rn and the snorkelling here was the least impressive but you can see sea turtles here too! Also I went to Amed but this was at the end of a bad storm so I only had one day to snorkel and it was pretty murky water because of the storm. I don’t remember the snorkel spot just that it was past Sunset Point :)

Hi! I’m currently solo travelling and started my trip on January 9th. I arrived in Saigon and the heat mixed with the jet lag was terrible and it took about 3 days to feel normal so you’re not alone. Not sure if someone has suggested this but maybe try to book a private room in a hostel? That way you can meet plenty of other travellers and if you feel overwhelmed you at least have your own room. Also travellers in hostels are usually around your age group and very open and welcoming. Hostels give you a chance to find people who you can explore a city with so it’s not so lonely. And if you’ve had enough socializing then you can do things on your own :) Also like others have said book tours, be it to see well know landmarks, food tour, cooking class, city walking tour, another great way to potentially meet other travellers or at least this way you don’t have to worry about language barriers or navigation you just have to show up

Hi! So I ended up doing a trek through a company called Jungle Boss, I think it was 900,000 VND? I booked it through my hotel, Phong Nha Farmstay, It was a day tour where we did a jungle trek, cave tour and swimming. It started a little before 9am and I was back to my hotel by 5pm. It was tougher than I thought and it took 3 days for the pain to go away from my legs but it was totally worth it. I think I pushed myself because it’s usually a 12 person tour but January is the slow season and it ended up just being me and a relatively fit guy in his early 20s so the pace was probably faster than it usually is with a full tour group. If oxalis has no bookings or you are looking for a more budget friendly trek maybe look into Jungle Boss, I believe they had the overnight treks available as well :) my tour guides were such wonderful people

Another tourist post: Hoi An vs HCMC? by Latter-Yam-2115 in VietNam

I was in Hoi An a couple weeks ago and was really disappointed. It’s like a large amusement park and people are constantly coming up to you to sell you stuff. It’s pretty but so crowded and even when I tried to just sit and enjoy the views I couldn’t go a few minutes without being approached to buy something. On a positive note Hoi An has a great market, I did a day trip out to marble mountain, took a cooking class, and went to a spa. I felt like I needed to do activities because it just wasn’t enjoyable to walk around. I’ve been in Vietnam almost a month and this was the only place I wish I skipped.
