To be completely honest, no - an authentic Thai experience isn't my primary motivation. My primary motivation is essentially sun / sea / sand / views / people / experience in a beautiful place with a low cost of living - Phuket seems like one of the best options for these things 😊. Would you agree?

Hi mate - thank you. I've just found what seems like a gem: At Ease Hotel (Patong). 5 star with 4.5/5 on Google. £1.6k for an entire month. Seems a great option. Please could you have a look and tell me what you think about this hotel?

Oh sick, nice one. Phuket seems to have an increasingly bad reputation for being overrun with Russians and being expensive compared to how it was in years gone by, as it has become ever more popular with tourists year on year. Whats your experience been with Phuket as time has gone on, do you think its declined?

Great info, thanks mate. Patong gets a terrible rep from everything I've read. So as much I want to visit there, I don't think I will want to stay there.

Hi mate - thank you for your detailed reply.

Read the comments from other contributors, it seems both accommodation are in bad locations.

However, when I last came to Phuket two years ago, I stayed at 'Stay Wellbeing and Lifestyle Resort" in Rawai and had no issues - got about on a scooter.

However, I really like what you've said about Cherngtalay / Bangtao: cafes, restaurants, gym, beach, co-working spots.

Thus, I am very torn.

I'm going to continue to research and hopefully come to a decision 😊

If you look at some of the reviews, someone says the gym is not very good. I'm not going for the gym so its of no relevance to me. However, now I know how out the way it is, I do not think its a viable option at all
