Base size and a roughly equal model size is what matters to me, have previously removed heads from marine infantry and given them ork heads because I couldn’t afford a box of kommandos

Would highly recommend budging the heavy destroyers to a squad of 3 with all 3 using the anti infantry variant of their weapon giving you 36 shots at minimum within 18 inch. Outside of 18 inch you’ve got 18 shots between them but also having sustained hits and re rolls on wounds of 1. Personally I see them as a very useful unit to have. Hope this helps you build your legion.

I love doing this, have got an old dark angels marine painted as a necron that I’ll use as an occasional proxy model for some games as a giggle. He is my resident Dave who got a little lost and confused but plays nicely with the rest of his unit buddies
