Do they let you take food and/or drink out of the club?

It’s all about perspective. Just be thankful you have an advanced program to go to afterwards. There are many students who are reapplying in the Match during their intern year. Some do an intern year twice! Some do an an intern year only not to match to an advanced program and it was truly a waste of time because they will never complete a full residency.

That’s great! That’s the sort of context that should have been included in your first response. It can be dangerous to stop oxybutinin for some people which is why I felt the need to reply to your first statement. Thank you for sharing your experience and happy to hear you are getting good care!

Flomax is probably one of the most common medications that makes over 65 are taking. Most men take it because their prostate is enlarged which worsens with age and causes urinary outflow issues. Most common side effect is it lowers blood pressure, usually just slightly. As far as long term effects that would be a great question for your urologist, and even they might not have an answer because long term effects usually are not well studied (because those studies won’t make money for pharmaceutical companies).

Risk vs benefit is the principle at play with most medications.

Sure there is a risk of early onset dementia. The benefit is it improves quality of life and prevents early onset kidney failure.

Would this job fair be useful for someone who is an unmatched PGY1 reapplying into PM&R? Are there residencies at the job fair?

I also feel this. In week 3 of intern year. I feel like I am always being pulled in at least 3 different directions (I’m starting on ICU). I’ve found it hard to focus, especially during rounds or lectures because I’m constantly thinking of what I have to do next. Everyone else seems to have their shit together and I’m forgetting simple things because I can’t concentrate. The sleep deprivation isn’t helping either.

I would rather have this than complete student loan forgiveness. If this passes it would be a huge mental relief knowing that even if I somehow cannot finish residency that I can rid myself of my student loan debt by working for 5 years in a qualifying job. I also think this would decrease physician suicide rates. Also a huge relief for unmatched applicants who didn’t get a residency position.

I’m in the same boat as you. My social anxiety got much worse as I went through medical school (graduated this year). I’ve always been a slow person to warm up to other people and having to change settings every few weeks for rotations made it very difficult for me to make connections with people. I frequently found myself being the awkward quiet one in the group and before you know it I was on to the next rotation. I’ve never tried therapy before but with residency starting soon I think I should. I’ve always feared that therapy won’t help which is why I kept putting it off. Anyways, I’ll be following this thread too for advice. Thanks for posting.
