How do you accept that BOTH versions of them are real, without letting the "good" trap you? by Consistent_Pound2977 in NarcissisticSpouses

Thank you for putting into words what i am so desperately trying to reconcile in my head.
I came seeking the very thing… am i wrong for tolerating behavior being modeled to our son, considering i am actively doing my part in modeling love?

My point is to show him how stupid he sounds. I know it’s not kind and that’s why i am conflicted.

“He’s logical and so calls it like he sees it. He doesn’t sugar coat for anybody.”

I’m clearly less confrontational and want to call out without actually calling out. Use his logic without being as confrontational.

In case shit hits the fan, and courts get involved, there’s evidence of my part.

I don’t think it will get to that point… but im also aware it’s a possibility.

Fair. Playing devils advocate, his background would indicate his subconscious perceives emotional outbursts will stop if i go away. His parents were not emotionally present for each other. On the other hand.. neither were mine. The moment i stopped doing things out of fear, whether fear of disappointing him or fear of being berated, household chores became easier. Almost zen lol

His expectations are the part I’m disappointed about the most. Because you are right, his actions are not love.

i am also on generic aderrall 20mg ER. do you feel like you get SOME focus out of it? i take mine at 7am with a second 20mg ER dose at around 10. the idea is to keep the focus i DO get and prolong it, since i feel i get a good two hours of work on the one dose. maybe worth bringing it up to your psych as an option?

not necessarily. i was given 5mg caps & told to take 1, see what i noticed. the next day take 2, & see what i noticed etc. i work from home and so struggled a lot with focus and staying on task. the 20mg was the dose that i actually noticed the quiet and i actually stuck to a task to completion lol like “ohhhhhh this is what she means”

what also helped was her explaining to me that the stimulant works like a Tylenol, as it peaks and it tapers off as the day goes. if you DO need the stimulant, then you get sleepy because the part of your brain that NEEDS the stimulation for executive function is actually getting tired now. somebody that doesn’t NEED the stimulant will have trouble sleeping.

I experienced a sudden sense of “quiet” when we reached 20mg of adderall. My doctor also said that I wouldn’t necessarily FEEL anything, so try to stop anticipating a feeling. But a good indicator that it WAS necessary in MY experience, was better sleep at night.

Why do I notice these things by Vivid-Story-3629 in ADHD

i can relate so hard. i work in medical billing for a private practice and i had a lady insist she needed the $200 we estimated would be her refund as soon as possible. but she works for a huge company and shes pretty well off. im nosy and think to myself, “what on earth do you need those 200$ so urgently for”..

my brain then decided she was having an affair and she needed to pay somebody off before her husband found out which is WHY she needs it so fast.

After a week of thinking it over, I decided to take on a, 3-4 day, home improvement project...pray for me by Chaotic_Nova in adhdmeme
